Entertainment Weekly has stated it might happen, but the producer has been saying she's not sure. I personally think Chasing Fire would be better suited divided in two than Mockingjay.

I don't see why not, just spoiler tag anything that might be very spoiler-ish? ;)

I'm happy either way as it'll mean more films :D

I don't think Catching Fire or Mockingjay need to be split into 2 films. There isn't enough story in either book to justify 2 films. There is a a lot in both books that can be trimmed to make them into single movies.

I could definitely see Mockingjay as 2 films. There is a lot of ground to cover.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

There is a lot more ground in Mockingjay but I think Catching Fire has a more obvious thematic split
between the Victory tour and the games. But they'd have to beef up the rebellion aspect of the victory tour.
I absolutely adored this. I thought it was fantastic, really weighty stuff, anchored by a terrific central performance from Jennifer Lawrence and a blistering fast pace. This is the first time I've actually finished a review the day I watched the movie, I was so excited, so you should probably read it:

Now I'm off to email the BBFC, asking them to release an uncut version...

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Saw this at DCA Dundee - what a fab cinema that is. The clarity of the screen was amazing and by far the best I can recall seeing. Comfy padded chairs, great bar, just a little more leg room needed for us lanky sorts!

Now, the film. I really really enjoyed this. It was well acted, well thought out and the BBFC cuts that allowed the 12A didn't detract from the film at all.

I may just have to go and get the books.

Television Without Pity weighs in on a Catching Fire director (very, very minorly spoilery) and agrees with my Kathryn Bigelow pick! :-)
