I've sent off emails to SFF (3 different emails), Empire and UK Cinema Showcase. Let's see if I get any results.prettyxcool wrote:Well, I have sent my email off to SFF. Now doing one to the Empire, no harm in complaining, they need to know that nothing went right tonight.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

It was over 4 days! I don't know if it was a separate entrace fee for 4 days. Yesterday they had Lunch at Kettners, and nothing till the cakes. They all had passes round thier necks but after coming out from one film, had to show the ticket for the next film. Organised Chaos by silly bimbosBeate wrote:So the media people had tickets for the whole day I guess - did you guys have to tramp out again after each film and wait to be readmitted as you might not have had a ticket for every film that day? Sounds like an organisational nightmare.

Did anyone else stay until the end of the Big Picture or was I the only crazy FMUKer that decided to see how far this shambles would go? I understand a bit of French (~ 20% of the sentences) so I could follow the start of the film. Anyway, eventually the projectionist did manage to adjust the screen so that we could read the subtitles. In the meantime, for no apparent reason, the lights were turned on again for some minutes. It was all such a chaos!
BTW, my oh and I did enjoy the film 7.5/10
except maybe for the ending which was a bit abrupt.
You can also get your opinion in via the "Other comments" section in the SFF survey. I've just been sent one for Stake Land but as I never went...

Re: doing the may 6th triple - leicester sq
the cricket film was good. it played to its strengths, being the racial inequalities of the sport (a dull card in these times but back then raicsm was an ugly but very powerful dragon).
The cast were the players (plus some dubious musicians), who were suprisingly good at what they did. Viv Richards in particular has quite handsome Hollywood features, good timing and a real charisma that might well thrive in a big screen B-movie.
The story itself is David v Goliath in the true sense, and whitewashes the boring image of cricket today with this legendary team's herculean acheivements in the cauldron of 80s international cricket..

Just got following email from Empire Leicester Square--
Thank you very much for your email regarding your recent visit to the Empire Leicester Square.
I was sorry to hear that your enjoyment was spoiled by the problems with the picture and subtitles on the feature. The screening was organised by Seefilmfirst who had several screenings throughout the day. Unfortunately the previous screening ran over by 30 minutes which had a knock on effect with 'The Big Picture'.
There was a problem with the subtitles on the hard drive that we had been provided. When the situation came to light, the projectionist was able to rectify the problem by cropping the picture and allowing all subtitles to appear on the screen. I have forwarded your details and emails to the organisers of Seefilmfirst. You may receive a response from them.
Once again I would like to apologise for your disappointment during the visit to Empire Leicester Square. Although the event was actually run by a third party, as a gesture of goodwill we would like to offer you
and a friend the opportunity to visit the cinema again as our guests. If you would be good enough to forward me your full postal address, I will mail two guest passes to you by return. I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Sarah Smith
So a victory of sorts although they say that SFF was the main culprit. Interesting that they said they would pass my email on to SFF and I "may receive a response from them". They obviously know SFF as well as we do. SFF never seem to respond to any customer complaints as I have already emailed them and heard zilch.
