Yep I agree the influence of the Golden globes has weaken over the last few years.
However despite his various good performances, there's zero chance of Ryan Gosling winning anything this year...

Then again even though he is favourite at the moment, I find it difficult to see George Clooney winning Best Actor as much as The Descendants is growing on me.
I need to think abit more before placing down my marker...

The 84th Academy Awards Trailer:

Billy Crystal is a funny guy, glad he is hosting again but this trailer is spectacularly unfunny. Seems like they spent quite a bit of money on its production though.

Hmm Tricky, I see Melancholia and Tree of Life are picking up so critic awards recently but they have no chance at the Oscars of winning the main prize. The PR people behind The Artist are absolutely bombarding social media, papers, TV about how great it is, but it hasn't been quite sweeping all the awards in sight

This year has been such a funny season - The fact that 19 (out of only 24 awards!!) films won at the critics choice awards shows how open the race is... Surprised that Clooney took the acting prize for the Descendents though.

I'm secretly hoping that War Horse will do a last minute surge and pinch the Best Picture Oscar.

On a slightly different note, I'm still shocked that Vanessa Redgrave didn't even make the 15 strong LONGLIST for the BAFTAs for her turn in Coriolanus. What a farce. An embarrassment really.
