Re: Tower Heist
The press people weren't late, per se. There was hospitality put on at a nearby restaurant as part of the event. People had to wait to even get into there because there wasn't enough space. So everyone had to go there for food and such then squeeze back out and head over to the cinema. Had this been held at the West End Vue or the Empire such issues could have been avoided, I'm sure.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: Tower Heist
I did wonder where they all came from in such a group. You are right though, the screenings at Vue or Odeon are much better organised.
I have to big up the one I went to on Monday for Contagion, not sure if it was press but there were proper tickets. Champange and popcorn all the way baby

Oh right, I didn't know that. As I said, none of your fault, and the way you guys were herded into the foyer only to stand there squeezed in for a while can't have been nice either. And I didn't even get time to read the embargo letter before I signed it as everything was in such a rush so I have no idea what it precisely said.

Wow, now that is real shit considering you were the one who found and posted the code!jramjee wrote:Well, this is the first time I failed to make it into a screening due to it being over-subscribed. Not too miffed because I know it would have been a thoroughly underwhelming experience. (Brett Ratner *pfft*)
Glad I chose to go to my exercise class.
I wonder if kevinknapman managed to get in.

Re: Tower Heist
Isn't he press these days? Or is that EthanRunt? Or both? Anyway, they should have got in as press.
Re: Tower Heist
Karma perhaps? Should I have kept it to myself? ...nah!!! It's only 1 out of like a 100, and I'm sure it was far from the best thing ever judging by the predominantly average reviews on IMDB.a_person wrote:Wow, now that is real shit considering you were the one who found and posted the code!

Re: Tower Heist
Ah well, he made it in anyway.
Re: Tower Heist
We were really treated badly tonight and as for the press not being late because they had to queue for drinks and canapes at another venue, well I don't know why, but I don't have enormous amounts of sympathy for them and as most of them weren't actually press but just there on a freebie, I'm not sure why there were so entitled and we were treated like rubbish. As we were queuing outside the cinema without the pleasure of food and drinks I think we had a raw deal. For goodness sake SFF, don't offer up tickets if you don't have room. I'm sorry some FMUKers in the queue didn't get in as there were still some free seats scattered around but I think that the staff just couldn't be bothered sorting it all out. The staff were pretty hopeless. No, actually the staff were very hopeless.
And as for being silent about the film, well I am not press so I can't see that I'm embargoed on my silly little musings (or so I've been told by some) about this rather silly, rather pointless, formulaic film. And how odd that there were no credits at the end. What's that telling us?

Re: Tower Heist
Odd that people were turned away, bottom rows around the sides were completely empty.
Anyway, on the subject of who gets priority, this was first and foremost an FDA screening, so industry and press, with others getting remaining tickets as a specialty, which is how after hanging out in a queue with friends, I flipped them the bird and waltzed down the queue, a queue that formed around me as I hid from the imposing clouds at 5:30 I might add, and went in (With a signed embargo, so don't expect any opinions here).
Sorry for those that didn't make it, the whole queue thing was a mess anyway, but I'm sure it was better to be in the Haymarket than trying our luck against the LFF crowds of a Leicester Square cinema.
