Finally got around to my review: http://londonfilmfanatiq.com/2012/03/26/the-pirates/

Stupid embargo kept me totally unmotivated to write it in a timely fashion.

I prefer Arthur Christmas as a story, but it's amazing how much cheaper and thereby more profitable stop-motion is for Aardman. It makes me wonder why they even both with CG.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

But there were quite a bit of CGI in this film too, although they made it look seemless.

The embargo was for people who went to the SFF screening a few weeks back (or rather it was a press screening)

I never signed anything so I guess it was for press only.

I don't even remember them mentioning an embargo.

Sometimes they verbally tell you it's embargoed (like at the Woman In Black), but I honestly can't recall them talking about an embargo when the film was introduced. Then again...I was rather ill that day.

I believe the tickets or SFF page mentioned the embargo, but it was never said during the screening

prettyxcool wrote: The film was fun and amusing but felt very much aimed for young children. It was good natured and very Aardman,
(scenes like the bath tub and hiding the parrot in the beard)
entertaining and definitely very detailed. Thought Queen Victoria was the best bit. Really livened up the film and story. We got some really heavy 3D glasses, but I brought my own, did not make any difference to enjoying the 3D. The 3D was useless, added nothing to the film, except made it darker, and I think our projection was really bad, did anyone else see it get brighter than darker and brighter and darker throughout, and the 3D not working properly in some places where it was supposed to be 3D?

7/10
I didn't even bother to wear the glasses, especially as they were very heavy and green! Most of it didn't even seem to be 3D imo
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

I don't remember SFF tickets ever mentioning an embargo, but usually the invited press receive an email where the embargo is notified ;)
