RAZORBACK wrote:Just got back from Lee Valley, it was pretty disorganised this evening & subsequently we weren't let in until about 6:15pm but as the film (or at least the short) started pretty much on time it wasn't that big a deal (at least as far as I was concerned).

As for the film itself, well I really enjoyed it however I will admit that I'm expecting it to get mixed reviews as it certainly dipped it's toes into 'guilty pleasure' territory on more than one occasion.

I'm not going to go into any further detail regarding why I liked this flick as I appreciate that there's another preview screening around the corner but will just say that although I'm sorely tempted to give it an 8/10 I think I'm going to play it safe and give it a more conservative 7/10 instead...
Have to say I've been thinking about this film a lot since I've seen it...decided it actually does deserve an 8/10 from me  ...

Brilliant. Just brilliant. Danny Boyle has done it again. I got one twist early on but I didn't understand the reason for it until near the end. You really have to be alert, the clues are there to find, like in the look she gives him at the beginning in her office or some memories of his that don't tally with just being hit over the head - it's all there. Marvellous.

I left with a big grin on my face. watcing it there were bits that made me think, 'loophole?', but then by the end i got it. clever. rosario dawson does have a lovely voice, resonant and soporific - good bit of casting there, i can understand how she could easily hypnotise someone.

8/10

stratford showed a trailer for oblivion. :) looked really good.

I really enjoyed it. Wasn't sure what I was going to be seeing but in the end I loved it.

According to tfl, my bus was on a diversion today, so I left earlier so as not to be late, only to find the bus took the regular route, so I was well early!! I had a coffee in the cafe opposite and joined the queue outside the cinema when I saw the first two arrive. Beate and OH were not long after me, but made it up the stairs before me and Beate kindly saved my fave seat for me, which I thought was very thoughtful - thank you, Beate!! She also took the time to come and chat with me before the film started, which I thought was also nice!! As for the film, I thought it was really good!! Very clever. And I never ever want to be hypnotised!!

I haven't been lucky with cinema audiences lately, today at the Lexi (which is a lovely little cinema by the way) we had a woman who kept checking her watch every 2 minutes right from the start of the film before giving up and leaving after half hour, then someone else got up and stood by the side wall for 20 minutes before sitting back down again ( maybe she had wind?), and some poor chap who went to the loo about 5 or 6 times, as well as loud popcorn munchers and chatters... So with all that malarkey, I tried my best to keep up with what was going on, many twists and turns, think I enjoyed it for the most part despite the plot being quite ridiculous. The soundtrack was pretty good, and Rosario getting her kit off was an unexpected bonus... :D Probably wouldn't watch this again though. 7/10

Saw this at the Cameo Edinburgh this morning which was surprisingly busy as there is usually plenty of empty seats. Brilliant film 8/10

An amazing work-out for the mind this is. With so many twists and turns it keeps you going right to the very end. Top class thriller and totally original. Wonder if Wee Jimmy McAvoy's bum will get an Oscar of its own? Lol.

I tried hard with this and am still not convinced that I actually followed it completely. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing it again for revision purposes. At one point I remember at least 3 separate threads of the story happening simultaneously, and there is a real/unreal/dream thing going on throughout. Liek I say - keeps you guessing.

Highly recommend this, and is on a par with Inception etc.
Loved the gore too.

9/10 from me.

This was excellent - only slightly odd note was the bit about the "hair" which seemed somewhat unneccesary to the rest of the plot! Other than that, excellent - if you're a fan of Danny Boyle's earlier work, particularly Shallow Grave, then you'll love this too. 9/10
