Re: This is 40
This was really tiresome and I knew after 10 minutes just how tedious this Andrex script would be. Aimed at people over 40 who think that they can relate to these characters lives and that they are cool for doing so. Young kids will love it too. They might not get the joke completely but hey, they used a dirty word so laugh monkey!
What keeps the film afloat is the support from Chris O'Dowd and Albert Brooks. Cameos from Jason Segel and Melissa McCarthy steal the show.

Was expecting this to be really poor from some of the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. In comparison to Funny People, the running time here was endurable, and there were lots of laugh-out-loud moments, as well as some decent dramatic bits. Comedy of the year so far for me.
8/10

I thought this was funny but too long and predictable - it's a 6.5/10 from me.

Re: This is 40
I agree with others on here that it was too long (sigh, I seem to say that after most films these days). However, I didn't fidget and I didn't feel bored, I just thought it was self-indulgently edited and could have been a lot tighter.
I hadn't seen Knocked Up, so the sequel business meant nothing to me anyway.
There were some bits when I laughed out loud, but I wouldn't call it a "laugh out-loud movie" as I'd seen on the posters. I thought the chemistry between the couple was good, but neither of them were particularly likeable so I wasn't really attached to the characters.
Having said that, I wasn't expecting a great deal from this film, so I think I actually enjoyed it more than I was expecting, and I was grateful to be offered the tickets at the last minute (we got popcorn, yay!)
6.5/10

Re: This is 40
Recently saw this at my local cineworld and although it wasn't the funniest film ever there were a few laughs and everyone in the screening i saw found the out-take type clip at the start of the closing credits very funny, so much so that everyone burst into laughter!

Re: This Is 40
Saw this the other day. Super boring and it is defiantly for people over 40, as most of the things were about things only people over 40 may well understand or identify with or not… The only thing that was good about the movie was Megan Fox, but with only a cameo role, she was electrifying in the scene in the club, where she is dancing too Nicki Minaj. They could have utilized her more in this movie along with Charlyne Yi.
Overall, waste of my time and money.
