I had a really really bad day at work. OH said just go home, but we made it (just) as I needed some fluff to clear my head. It worked. I didn't need to think and it was entertaining enough. I love Bill Nighy, he's magic.
The male lead was too young and didn't age at all convincingly, Rachel McAdams on the other hand seemed to old to initially play her younger self?
Anyway, it wasn't great and it wasn't awful.
It's British and it was made by Richard Curtis, it will do well regardless of what we all think.

Good lord I cried.
After reading the reviews, it appears me and my mate were the only ones to like this!

"Taxi for Richard Curtis!"

After this, he should stick to Comic Relief & reminiscing about how he used to produce funny / poignant stories....ahhh the good 'ol days.

My friend and I liked it too and so did the lady sitting behind us. Would have been better if about 20 minutes shorter but a watchable film and I always like Bill Nighy. A sad scene with him and his son but didn't make me cry. 6/10

What happened, Richard Curtis? I love all your other films, but this one I don't! It was a cloying and sentimental story ("My son - my Dad!") about a boring family with maybe two genuine laughs - neither of which I can remember. Most actors were criminally underused ("Oh look, there's Tom Hollander, and he's acting grumpy!"), and the whole scenario is illogical.
For example, wasn't he told to be careful about going back in time as each sperm is different and he could end up with a different kid - and yet that somehow only applies after the baby is born? WTF?
As for the advice of living every day twice - you've got to be kidding me?
This could and should have been so much better. Gleeson really is no Hugh Grant - who might have made something out of that role. Just as well I had PXC to talk to on the balcony or I would have been really annoyed about wasting so much time waiting for this to start.
They announced before the film that no phones were allowed and they would stop the film if someone was caught - yeah, right. They would have had a riot on their hands. Also, they had set up a camera afterwards trying to get people to comment on the film - as far as I saw everyone was giving them a wide berth even though they promised to b*y people drinks, LOL.

I was just about to say this exact same thing... If only I'd read some reviews beforehand! This was utter bollocks and a total waste of my time. The last 20 minutes or so, with that overbearing tearjerking score... :X swimming with piranhas would have been less painful. 0/10

OK....so it was about time!
I thouroughly enjoyed this and there were certain points I could really relate to it. Bill Nighy definitely stole the show for me though. His "Dad" was just brilliant.
Great to see cameo from poor late Richard Griffiths as well as Richard E. Grant too.
In a word this film is "gentle". I loved the concept and I enjoyed the various twists. Nothing too complex nor hard to follow.
I do think it was perhaps over long, and it might have made a better 3 or 4 parter on BBC2 perhaps as it did feel like watching several tv episodes back to back in a cinema.

Can't complain though - it said it was about time....and it was.

And btw, how DARE Mary stand on the left side of a tube escalator? Not only does Richard Curtis say it's ok for men (only men, mind) to time-travel and manipulate lives, he also tells us it's ok to STAND ON THE LEFT?

I'm so surprised that so many people disliked this film.
Although it was probably around 20 minutes too long, I loved it and am disappointed that it is supposedly Richard Curtis's last film as he does this type of film so well.
I also thought the ultimate point was that one should seize the day wholeheartedly in the first place so that it was unnecessary to have to do it twice (or have any regrets from it).
Anyway, I felt it was a gentle, familiar film (perfect for a Sunday morning) with good performances overall. 8.5/10
