Quite a sweet film but pretty uneventful. Steve Carell plays a good meanie, wanted to quish him.

Saw this today with my Son and we both really enjoyed it. It was nice to see Beate and OH.

Hey did anyone else wonder if it was leading towards an altogether different relationship between Duncan and Owen? I was getting worried when Mom kept referring to "your new friend who can drive". This avenue would have really really spoiled this film. Thankfully the hug at the end was both heartfelt and innocent. Phew!
Definitely one you can take Granny to without needing to shield her eyes!

Here's my full review:

I liked it well enough, but there was something vague missing. The water park as catalyst for development felt like it should be a metaphor, but never quite came together. Still, a pretty pleasant watch.

I know I've been rather deprived of films lately so this may have made me extra receptive, but I absolutely loved this - one of the best films I've seen this year. Fortunately my sister also liked it, as it was her birthday and in the past, she hasn't been too impressed with some of my film choices. It was far better than I expected, too - I just wish there had been more of it.

The Odeon where we saw this (neither of us had been to this site before; it simply happened to be the nearest location to where we were staying) was amazingly well-organised - I have never come across the like. We arrived before 10 am but they were open, ready for the public, staff not only knew about the preview but also which screen it was in AND they let us straight in. Most of those would not apply to an evening preview, so for a Sunday morning it was pretty impressive.

What was also unusual in my experience (not to mention unorthodox) was that though the preview was obviously over-subscribed, staff allowed latecomers to sit on the floor to watch AND gave them vouchers afterwards to make up for it. I thought standing, or sitting other than in proper seats was not allowed for health and safety reasons, but since the staff were clearly aware of the issue, someone must have decided to go for customer satisfaction rather than obeying the rules. And, as promised, when we emerged, we were each handed a voucher for the car park, giving 3 hours' free parking, which even left time for some shopping...

Just come back from watching this movie, and I have to say it was quite good and I enjoyed it. Something different for a change, it had a nice simple and subtle storyline. Nothing fancy about it which reflected a few down to earth characters, even though I found Duncan to be slightly weird! Personally I felt like the movie wouldn't have been as good if it wasn't for Sam Rockwell. His acting was great and the character he played was very funny. I was thrown off edge when the movie ended suddenly. Nevertheless I'm giving the way way back a 7.5/10.

Saw this earlier this evening & really enjoyed it, it wasn't particularly original but I loved all the characters (even Steve Carell's nasty Trent) and it didn't outstay it's welcome. Overall it gets an 8/10 from me o/ ...

Good movie but without Sam Rockwell, it would have been a meandering mess.
He is, by far, the best thing about it and livens up every scene he's in.

Loved this, although love Sam Rockwell. A lovely mix of laugh out loud and some really touching moments. Can't wait to watch it again 8/10

I also saw this last night. As others have said, uneventful, but I welcomed this after a long post-bank-holiday day at work. It just made both my friend and I come out and say what a lovely sweet film it was. Always great to see Alison Janey too.
