It's been a while since there was a decent British comedy and this film definitely hit the mark. The script provides a wonderful mixture of drama and comedy. An eccentric bunch of characters played by talented actors really brought the film to life. 9/10.

Seen this tonight and loved it! I was choking back tears most of the way through, every time Gethin was on screen in fact. The cast was brilliant and I just loved Sians character, people applauded at the end too!

Just back from Dundee - pretty full - again, clapping at the end. Can't actually remember the last time that happened at a movie! All I can do is echo everybody else. I totally, utterly and completely loved this movie. I laughed, I cried, I bopped in my seat (I liked the 80's!) I'd go back and see this again like a shot. Is it just me that saw Mark as "The only gay in the village"??!!!!

A joy to watch, would have liked to see more vitriol towards Thatcher shown from the miners, but it hit the mark in every other area...........a must see 9/10

Saw this in Wimbledon last night. A lovely feel-good movie about underdog supporting underdog. We watched how a group of Lesbian/Gays came to be friends with the inhabitants of a Welsh village during the 80’s miners’ strike and how each party supported the other during their times of need.
A good plot, excellent locations and a cracking cast. Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton were (as usual) fabulous. Great soundtrack of 80’s gay anthems – where were Soft Cell and Erasure though?
At the time, I didn’t really know much about the 80’s miners’ strike and even less about the original Gay Pride march. I feel as if I now (at long last) understand the background of both. 9/10

A timely reminder of the not-too-distant days when there was social solidarity; and workers had the b*lls to stand up to state violence and rapacious employers, not cowering and genuflecting while scuttling after the latest zero-hours contract and unpaid internship.

Ironically, the film is a missed opportunity - it is just not funny enough and, until the very end, insufficiently moving. The pace is too sedate, the frequent switches between London and South Wales disrupt the narrative thread, and the set-pieces are manufactured and unconvincing.

Absolutely LOVED this! From start to finish. A feel good film but harrowing at the same time. Absolutely pulled on my heart strings.

I'll definitely be b*ying this one too
