Re: Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Caught this in 3D and thought the beginning felt a bit chaotic. Was kinda hard to follow all the action but later things seemed to fall into place. Would like to see in 2D to compare.
Overall, got exactly what I expected... great fun, slick script and some fancy new characters.
Already looking forward to the next one!
8/10

SpoilerShowI don't understand why Stark would change his motivation based on a dream, or Thor would just leave, it's against their characters. I read one review where it mentioned comics Scarlet Witch could project visions of the future, were they just reluctant to call them that because there was a character named Vision?

The visions were not real. It is implied in the film that Wanda could read minds so she was able to create a vision to play on the fears of the people involved. Stark had a fear of the Aliens coming back and taking over the world (something that was (badly) explored in Iron Man 3) so his vision focused on that. Stark's fear was his prime motivation to create Ultron as he wanted to create something to cover threats when the Avengers were not around. Thor just going off like that made no sense but was shoehorned in to setup Thor 3.

Re: Avengers: Age Of Ultron
thought this was a very good sequel, which avoids simply regurgitating the first movie.
Not to say there isnt an apocalyptic event, there obviously is, but its almost like that event is handled as par the course "in the background" for the team, and the real plot is the "setup" for the next 2 films. Ultron at times feels an afterthought, with the direction clearly moving towards Cap America 3 "Civil War". Though that's not to say that Ultron isn't a badazz.
Instead of Ultron trying to outdo Loki, hes instead often ripe with self parody, you almost feel sorry for him knowing hes at some point going to get his badazz handed to him, probably by someone green and angry. The film isn't happy to be that predictable though, frequently surprising me with its subplots.
Theres a good reason why Stark is portrayed as a bit gungho, for one he always has been, but also it sets up the next movie, although he does come across as a bit stupid for a genius, and equally so does Banner frequently playing Starks stooge, a minor quibble since Bruce is probably the smartest of the team.
The only real disappointment was not seeing it at BFI, opting for Kingston instead, which is not an IMAX, its Liemax!
Minor complaint was not really knowing the extent of Scarlet Witches powers, one moment shes simply a telepath, the next shes capable of all sorts. theres really no need for another deus ex machine in disguise.
really hope whdeon isn't really quitting the franchise.

Agree with Valda that this is a 6/10. Something was missing I felt and it didn't seem to engage as much as the first. Lots of visual which is fine but I was expecting more.

I thought this was pretty boring to be honest. I really enjoyed the first one and was expecting good things. Bi came away hugely disappointed. A mere 5/10 from me as I was bored.

Re: Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Didn't like this as much as the first one. It felt a lot busier (constant shots of the Avengers rescuing every extra didn't help) and I'm more excited for the plotlines it's setting up in Phase 3 then for the movie itself. Some of the plotlines seemed to come out of nowhere (the Natasha/Hulk romance, Hawkeye as the glue which holds the Avengers together) and shortshifted the plots I really care about (Tony/Hawk friendship, the idea that the Avengers do leave a bit of collaterol damage.)

Re: Avengers: Age Of Ultron
