Sorry to have missed you! There was a good turnout of FMUKers.

I have not read the book, but felt this too! ;)

so did Sean Bean get cast in this solely so he could be present for the Elrond scene? ;)

I enjoyed this, but still would prefer Interstellar out of the recent sapce films. The 3D didn't add much to it but since odeon have dropped their prices and 3D was on at a better time I went for that just to see what it was like.

very good, much more positive and life affirming that I thought it would (certainly it will be a lot more tragic and hardhitting in real life, when it actually happens in a few decades time). Ifs of course just a movie, so I'm not going to nitpick with scientific details, though I was expecting a bit more, especially with the visuals, given ridley scott usually sets the bar so high for his movies' scenery - but then no ones seen Mars with human eyes so perhaps not wise to prejudge them. There could be a "westerns canyon" there just like ours for all we know - and one cant ignore that perhaps deliberate nod to early European pioneers in the Wild West.

Have to say, NASA would likely never even consider going back to rescue a sole naufragos due to the costs.

Hopefully this movie will knock some sense into those MarsOne chump volunteers who want to go one way to Mars in the 2020s.http://time.com/3716823/mars-one-space-travel-finalist/

4 stars, but not 5!

Really enjoyed this film. Thought it lived up to the excellent novel by Andy Weir. The ending was an unexpected nice touch.

There was a novel also?....Ok just kidding.

It was only after did I appreciate the weightlessnes scenes by Jessica & Kate,
I thought Sandra Bullocks weightlessness scene in Gravity were sublime but then Ridley Scott came along
you get swept along with the film and don't notice or appreciate the skill

I now want to see Gravity and The Martian back to back, any order but together

Two films with weightlessness BOTH FMUK
Quentin Rodriguez & Robert Tarantino

saw this a 2nd time tonight, this time at empire leic sq IMPACT screen which has 64channel dolby Atmos sound, which was great for the storm and air break scene.

the 3d was much better this time around, maybe because odeon in tot court road has "Real D" and empire has "Master image" 3d? i saw the mid credit scene this time around and was a nice touch. if your gonna see it again i highly recommend catching it in one of the few Dolby Atmos screens in the UK

of the top of my head theres three in london (empire, picturehouse westend and Barns Olympic studio cinema)

Saw this at a packed Tottenham CR auditorium. I was looking forward to seeing this film. I hadn't read the book but am really interested in science and wasn't disappointed at all on that front. Although it seems a bit far-fetched that NASA would go to those lengths and expense to retrieve an astronaut it was really interesting how he worked through and solved his problems. The only problem I had with Matt Damon's character was that he was too upbeat and positive after being left for dead.

8/10
