Re: Step Up 3D
Just come back from a packed screening. Saw prettyxcool. Were you sitting next to her friend a_person?
They didn't take the mobiles though were keeping watch.
The film
Was average as had a pretty predictable storyline. Loved the dancing, thought it was amazing, puts me to shame really.

Re: Step Up 3D
Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue was packed! Not as easy as at Vue Islington to see and speak to FMUKers - seats too packed together. milkchocmonkey and hdaniel82 were sat in the back row and I sat in front of milkchocmonkey. When a_person turned up she sat next to my friends. I saw ucakpam and tried to wave to her as there was an empty seat in our row, but she had already walked to down to the front. And I think I waved to you tilly, were you two rows in front of my row but at the other end (it was dark!).
Security was tight, they kept checking seats and wanted to see you turn off your mobiles before letting you in. No bag search.
I enjoyed this film - maybe because I am biased! Love all dance films. I know it was predictable, and as my OH says "there is no story, it is just dancing!" - duh, it is a dance film. Reminds me how much I also miss those Hollywood classics with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
I thought the dance sequences were great, the film was fun and heartwarming and made me happy and want to dance. My friend and I felt like going clubbing afterwards!

Re: Step Up 3D
Wow, that's pretty lucky - I'd get a lottery ticket if I were you - dodging this film and getting to see one of the films of the year.the fox wrote:Turned up at Cineworld Nottingham to watch Step Up 3D but the film didn't turn up so the kind peeps are letting us watch Toy Story 3 for free instead.
Wasn't expecting much, and didn't even live up to those expectations. Knew it would be corny, but still found it hard to care any of the Pirates. Also wasn't particularly wowed by the dancing, and again found 3D a bit distracting.
But then I don't think I'm the target audience - being of the Flashdance generation!!
Also, they didn't take any phones off people, just told us to turn them off - although they did make us all queue up, before letting us in just before 6.30, so film finished about 20mins later than expected!!
So, the delay, plus the poor film AND the two girls talking constantly for the first hour, before leaving the cinema, didn't help the feel good experience very much.
Sorry for the moan, oh to be in Nottingham with Buzz and the gang.

Re: Step Up 3D
Totally agree with Prettyxcool, loved the scene in the street where they did the Gene Kelly style of dance and the Tango scene (would love to able to do it), I too love street dancing (watching not doing). Very predictable but also very watchable. I am so not the target audience age
I watched this at Didsbury almost full and they didn't take our phones of us but had security checking throughout the film.
8/10
Totally agree with Yogi about the 2 girls, they were a few rows away from me but still annoying and I'm also from the Flashdance/ Grease generation so perhaps I shouldn't admit to liking it

I found the film totally predictable but loved it all the same. Absolutely amazing dancing.... I felt like dancing to the music with the end credits on my way out of the screen.
*Sigh* how I wish I could dance like that.

Re: Step Up 3D
I'm not really a fan of any type of dancing, especially this sort of dancing, and get pretty bored of it - so I had fairly low expectations. It was better than I thought it would be. Enjoyable, even though very predictable, and didn't really feel much for the characters. I have more appreciation for the 3Dness though, and thought it was used quite well in this film.
No security in Cheltenham, although I wish there would have been. The guy (and his family, young children) sat in front of me were talking and shouting the whole way through (and using the f word) and recording some of the dance scenes on his phone.
I'd give it 6/10.

Re: Step Up 3D
Wow never seen a preview this packed (or the screen too small?). Rushing all the way from the lab to the screen and arrived 20min before the movie started. My hubby and I entered the screen just to find 2 available seats next to each other at the very first row. I love the movie (cause I love all dance related
), may be not much of surprising story line but the dance was great. the 3D was the 2nd best this year so far but too good I almost had crossed eyes
for being to close. I guess it's true "too much of good thing can hurt". I have to take off the glasses from time to time. But it's still a great fun and a definte 8/10 from me
