^^ ooh that's not a good sign. I wanted to see this but couldn't make it tonight so I'd be interested in the reviews.

Re: The Runaways
Bleepin heck, that was bAAAAAAAAAAAAAAd!!!
I really can't believe just how awful that film actually was and that I actually stayed until the end as did everyone else in a 95% full Edinburgh on a lovely sunny evening when I could have been doing anything else!
Sorry, words just aren't enough sometimes to say just how awful that film was. The one and only redeeming feature was they played "I love Rock and Roll" near the end - loved that song as a wee kid!!
It was just terrible, Kirsten Stewart was monosylabic and largely incomprehensible for the most part; Dakota Fanning must have been conned into taking that part - if she thinks that's the way to break out of being classed as a child actor she's sadly mistaken.
The story is a reasonable one and they could have taken it on it's journey; they didn't.
I didn't care about any of them; it was just rubbish.
Sorry for the rant.
1/10 and that's for I love Rock and Roll!

Went to Bournemouth Odeon which was about half full and managed to stick it out until the end. This is one film i shall not be recommending really dreadful and some people left half way through.

Re: The Runaways
Okay deep breath...... This was one of the most unengaging, I don't care about any of the characters movie I've seen in a long while. I was counting people leaving the cinema, rather than counting sheep. There were 8 walk-outs and they all stayed a good 1/2 hr at least to give the film a chance. Surprisingly the cinema was about 75% full anyway.
The first 3/4 was just dreadful, yes I want to be a rock star, yes lets take some drugs, yes lets throw in some crazy fans. I only vaguely got interested in the last 1/4 when there were some slight emotional engagement with the audience. And to be fair, Kirsten Stewart acted better in this film than most of her other films, even though she's only got 1 expression all the time.
However I did like the ending quite abit, so that lefts the film to an elevated 4/10

What a great big pile of pants.......wish i'd stayed home and slept instead of watching this film. Even the teenager who loves the Twilight girly thought it was boring!!
I think this is one film that should have stayed as a book. I'd give the film 2/10 only for the soundtrack as the acting was diabolical.

Re: The Runaways
not a great movie.
the girl with the model looks was basically the star and the story revolved round her. stewart was well cast as Jett. everyone else in the band was one dimensional, sadly.
Kim kept things going with his wacky personality, but yeah it was ultimately unsatisfying. the ending, i thought, was 'nice and pleasant' but pretty weak, leaving out most of the band's career...unless they are going to make a sequel ....

Re: The Runaways
well as someone who was 18 when the band started out, I was really up for it. The whole 70's thing was exact down to the T. Clothes, hair make up, all took me back to my bad youth. I thought Dkota and Kristen were ok in the roles, and really came across like the rebels they were. I was most impressed that they sang the songs as well. Thier manager producer? really got on my nerves but he had managed loads of well known bands so I guess he was true to the character. For me, too much time was spent on starting the band, and not enough time on the break up of the band. 6/10
