I would have never thought this to be your type of movie. Especially Burn After Reading!

True Grit must be one their most accessible films ever, it's certainly their most watched film ever...

Saw this earlier tonight. Though there was plenty of choice, it wasn't exactly a difficult decision as I love the Coen Brothers.
Though this was more conventional and less quirky than previous efforts it was every bit as assured. Jeff Bridges is predictably good as Rooster Coburn and is most definitely not doing an impression of John Wayne. Wayne's Coburn was a broad showcase for a typically hammy performance and he never convinced as a stone cold killer. Bridges fully inhabits the role, and is never less than compelling. Equally good is Matt Damon, vain but heroic, his verbal sparring with Bridges is a highlight of the movie. Most extraordinary of all though is Hailee Steinfeld as Matty Ross. Incredibly assured, the moment she gets the better of a horse-trader, you know you're witnessing one of the finest performances by a young actress or actor you're likely to see this year. That Bafta nomination is well deserved.
Excellent support too from Josh Brolin and Barry Pepper (and for Harry Potter fans on here, Bill Weasley or Domhnall Gleeson as he's otherwise known. Yes really.)
It's also an incredibly beautifully shot film (Roger Deakins on top form), the opening shot alone one of the most striking of any Coen film.
Quite simply outstanding.

All my screenings have been attended with proper tickets but I managed to attend a kind of marketing type day about future film trends as a FMUK representative. But so did pretty, LOL.

Yes I am getting away with pretending to be a film critic and hoping nobody notices. It kind of started on here actually, phunkygal asked me a couple of times if I wanted to do some reviews on her website but I was busy both times. Then on twitter she asked if anyone could attend the press screening of Norwegian Wood, so I jumped at the chance. I've been to 4 press screenings so far (3 in the last week alone) and I've also done several DVD reviews. Going quite well at the moment.
The website is www.thefilmpilgrim.com for anyone interested.
