I was very lucky to work in the arena tonight and not outside the auditorium as it had often been the case lately... Brit Floyd was really cool! I felt like I was watching Pink Floyd, and almost cried when Syd Barrett's sister came on stage - I am a huge fam of his work!
Negative points: too loud and too much light effects..

I went to see A Tale of Two Cities the musical. I had very low expectations and it wasn't helped by the low turnout and a minimalist stage, but the songs and the singing was tremendous, Jonathan Ansell's in the show. I might go and b*y the soundtrack, some cracking songs. 8/10

Watched "Vampirette" on Mon evening. Lower level was about 90% full. Thoroughly enjoyed it. There was supposed to be a competition for the best dressed vampire, but a group of 8 kids who were together had been chosen as the winners---3 witches, 2 devils, and 3 vampires. It wasn't announced and no one else had the chance to participate when we asked during intermission. Great songs, dancing, comedy, bit of romance. Well choreographed. Had me singing along, and laughing out loud on a few occasions.

I thought Top Hat was absolutely brilliant. I agree with funthing29 that Tom Chamber's American accent was way off and it did impact his singing and acting somewhat, but not to a degree that took anything away from the enjoyment of the show. I really, really loved the musical; it was incredibly funny (particularly smaller characters such as the man servant and the Italian were hilarious) and it had some of the best tapdancing sequences I've ever seen. In all I enjoyed this show even more than Singin' in the Rain (also, that's the 3rd Strallen I've seen perform in the West End this year!)

AS PROMISED, FEEDBACK FROM MY SISTER, RE 'TOP HAT'

What a wonderful way to spend an evening – steeped in nostalgia for the 1930s. “Top Hat” provides top rate singing and dancing, the cast are fantastic. Personally I preferred the first half – possibly due to the fact I had a clear view of the whole stage, the people in front of me swopped seats and despite being the top price seats in the stalls, my view was obstructed during the second half. Tom ….? ……. is perfect in the leading role and is a contender to take Fred Astaire’s crown as “Mr. Dance”. A definite hit!! Well worth going to see.

Tim Minchin to play Judas Iscariot in Superstar arena tour

Having wowed the public and critics with his musical theatre writing debut, Matilda composer and lyricist Tim Minchin will make his first UK musical theatre performance as Judas Iscariot in the forthcoming arena tour of the Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

The casting - which was widely reported over the weekend - is perceived as highly ironic given the comedian's high profile atheism.

The Whatsonstage.com award-winner will join Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger (as Mary Magdalen) and whoever wins the "search for a Christ" television casting show Superstar which begins on ITV soon with Jason Donovan and former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm among the judges.

Minchin selected "Heaven on their Minds" (Judas's opening number in the musical) as one of his eight pieces of music on Sunday's edition of Desert Island Discs on Radio 4 in which he recalled:

“I reckon I sang this song standing in my parents’ living room, to the vinyl original recording, about 500 times, and subsequently got to understudy the role of Judas in two separate Perth productions of JC Superstar but I never played the role and I keep thinking one day I’m going to play Judas. I just love it because it is just pain and rock.”

The tour will open at the O2 in London in the summer before embarking on a UK tour.

This is really interesting casting and I'd be keen to check it out. However, I'm not a fan of putting on shows in the arena, the space is too vast for the audience to feel the kind of connection to the characters and story a theatre provides.

You're welcome, but we will be expecting a review, I think a lot of us are very curious about some of the content of Cantina!
