Not even worth it to stare at Cillian Murphy's eyes, unfortunately.

jojojoanne wrote:Just got back from Cantina. The fuss made about 'nudity' ... you do see a man TOTALLY naked for a couple of minutes but it's not offensive in ANY way ... without spoiling anything, it's part of a comical act. The Box Office said the show is for over 18s only, but there was a young girl in there, aged about 12. Perhaps she was toooooo young, but I dont think the show warrants 18+. I asked one of the staff inside the tent and she said 16 upwards. The 'violence' that was mentioned is interpreted through dance. It's a nice way to spend an hour. Dancing, singing, acrobatics .. it's well worth going to see. There's food and drink available outside too.
Thanks to mandmc10, I and my OH got to see this tonight too. I have seen similar entertainment before, and it is entertaining and really well done. Some of the acts made me cringe and gasp though. It was nice to see a man in the nude for a change, rather than a woman. I had seen a similar act with a woman striptease before, both nudity acts were done very tongue in cheek, with a lot of comedy, so not in bad taste.

I managed to grab second row seats, could have sat in the front, but was not sure if they would pick on the audience so stayed well cleared! ;)

Anyway, the show should not be missed. Recommended!

They really looked like they were enjoying it, they seem to be having fun whatever acts they were doing!

Yet interestingly, when I was at the NT on Tuesday evening, of the 3 plays on that night, Misterman was the only one advertised on the electronic notice board as "Sold Out", and the other 2 plays were considered hot tickets.

It looked quite full yesterday too. But then tickets often get sold also on who's in a play (Cillian in this case) and/or who wrote it.

Babel has been getting nothing but terrible reviews from everyone who's been. Reluctantly I have to agree, I know they didn't have much time to rehearse and it's a community project but people who have pa*d £25 a ticket will be pretty disappointed. If there's more free tickets in future, by all means go, but I definitely wouldn't recommend p*ying for this. 1st hour is like walking around a new age hippy fair and when the show starts at 21:30, you keep expecting more from the imposing tower, but it just lead to more disappointments. The climbing of the title was clumsy, I thought they were meant to have have a song at the end, but the group I was next to didn't know the words, didn't even know the tune to hum to and started giggling and just chatting. They are already offering £10 tickets for this on lastminute.com. It would have been a prime candidate for SFF, but I am not sure if the theatres connected with this use SFF.
The theatres involved get a lot of funding from the government and the fact they are not p*ying most of the actors involved and still charging £25 a ticket and the lack of quality of the show is bound to upset people.3/10

PS tickets might say 20:30, but show starts at 21:30 officially, although there are things to do and see beforehand if you want sweets, massage, listen to a choir etc.

Saw the duchess of malfi last night and was really impressed, I read a synopsis first and glad I did as I think I would have got a little lost! The set was fantastic as well.
