Sorry to read you are feeling down aruif. I don't think the gym will be very supportive as they are only in it for the money. Sometimes they advertise a short trial period for a small fee or a friend may have a free pass for a gym that they belong to they could give you. But you can still have a long walk in the good weather which hopefully will give you a lift and make you feel like eating. Fresh air, some good food and a talk with friends will kick start your road to recovery.

We all feel down at times in life either for a good reason or no reason at all - but things do and can get better. It is in your hands to improve your outlook on life - you are young and reasonable healthly. Keep taking the meds and try and get out of the house for a while each day.

I read this somewhere and it is true, although you may not think so at present - If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

Aruif I think some exercise is probably just what you are needing, as about the exercise as a prescription as Diane suggested, makes sense really!
If not Biggins' sugestion of walks is great, is there anywhere near you that you can just walk in peace and quiet like a park? Sometimes being out in the fresh air with nature just lifts your spirits, take time to look at the wee things, smell the flowers (corny but true!)
Get out the house, go to the library, local museum or just a place of interest and set wee goals that are achievable to get your confidence back.
Keep us updated!!! We're here xxxx

Thanks so much Diane - I am seeing a PT through the dr yes but it's due to run out soon and tbh because i'm in a bad frame of mind it's not working out so well and even if i do go to the gym once a week it's almost pointless sadly - i think - i don't know - i guess an hour is better than nothing at all.

now i'm frustrated because i found something cool i want to do but i'm not fit enough - by far- to do it and i'm so impatient it makes me want to stuff my face with rubbish and sulk! i need to get out of this funk - forever.

i'm considering hypnotherapy - my brain clearly isn't working properly when it comes to food and it's been my entire life from eating disorders to just generally not being able to eat normally or make good decisions - in life sometimes it feels.

chaos. i feel i'm in chaos.

I hope you feel better and less like eating all the time - you know though it seems to be normal for people to have days when they just need more food. i'm sure it will pass but keeping busy and active is great too though :)

edit: oh and my tracker - i'd ignore that, it's probably more like -4 now!

Aruif,

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties and medical problems but congratulate you on having the courage to confront them and also to post about them here. It really is a good bunch of folk on this site and they certainly help to keep me motivated.

It's fantastic that you're motivated to get to the gym and be active. Even though I don't know about your own personal situation in detail, I can relate to it since I have struggled with my weight for much of my life and have sought out help for various medical troubles too.

You've said that you've found "something cool i want to do but i'm not fit enough" and that you are "impatient". I'd suggest that having found that "something" should be a good goal to aim for. Not knowing your background, problems or medical situation though, anything I may say is obviously not as important as what your doctor advises!

For me, small changes have made a massive difference and have been easy to implement:

1. Drink plenty of water. I aim to drink 12 cups of water a day or more if I have been working out. I start each day with a pint of water which helps rehydrate the body after fasting all night. Additionally, I have managed to curtail my diet irn bru addicition by drinking sparkling water instead (most of the time!)

2. Exercise. This doesn't necessarily mean hitting the gym and smashing yourself every day. Just getting a bit more exercise in your daily routine. For me, walking has been a massive help for losing weight. I currently walk to and from work (about 3 miles all in) which gives me 50 minutes of "exercise" in the bank and 300 calories burned. Additionally, because walking is low-impact, it won't adversely effect your performance in the gym if that is what you choose to do. I also try and get out at the weekend with a friend and we go for a walk rather than the pub!

3. Sleep. This is a big problem for me but trying to get a solid night of sleep can help stabilise your appetite and mental well-being.

4. Diet. Unfortunately, I love bad food and booze far too much. However, I try to eat well as much as possible but on a budget. Frozen fruits, berries and vegetables are comparatively cheap, still full of nutrients and fibre and help me towards my "5-a-day" but I always try to eat more than the recommended 5. A portion of frozen berries gives you one of your 5 and is only 22cals.

Still under diet, I can't emphasise the importance of protein in your diet. This is definitely something worth looking into as your protein consumption can seriously impact on your body composition.

I apologise if this sounds anything at all like I am delivering a lecture but I hope that in some small way it is of some assistance to you. My own motivation not to gain weight/ manage my weight has been renewed recently as my Dad is 350lbs, on a heavy complement of medication to combat associated problems with his weight and also requires an oxygen mask while he is asleep due to obesity related sleep apnoeia.

Don't give up, Aruif!

Biggins, Moggers and JohnMilton you are truly a bunch of the nicest people ever and aruif as they have all said we are right behind you and I have loved reading how we are all totally honest about our situations plus a lot of people have overcome various issues to achieve or are achieving their goals. I have probably had one of the easiest journeys as mine was simply a case of Yogi taking my picture (it was a group photo not designed as a fat photo) and actually seeing my big fat face in print that triggered me on plus it was simply a case of eating too much and not exercising enough. The rewards are so good I feel far fitter and have just taken 5 dresses to be taken in - as I've had so much free time this week I have re gone through my wardrobe trying on clothes and doing all the little jobs (cleaning jewellery, new batteries in watches etc) that you don't have time for when working full time.

Thank you so much for thinking of me I actually meant that I was the nice shattered where you have worked your body hard and sleep like a log tired plus the eating was simply a case of having the munchies after all the walking the day before.

Just had my milkshake with raspberries (the frozen ones that JohnMilton recommends) and bananas for 300 calories. Just going to do my Tracey Anderson DVD before anyone apart from Liquorice who is already up and sitting on the chair which I'm using to do my leg part of the exercise workout  Thanks for reminder re water JohnMilton as I keep on letting that slip :nono:

Aruif, sorry you are feeling low at the moment. Just take a minute and look at your weight tracker. You have lost over 2 stone!!! So you can do it you just need to get back in a good place. Do doctors give out free gym membership, or was that a plan that never happened? Can they refer you for physio for your injured parts?

You can get one of those apps for your phone, that measures how far you walk etc. then try and up it bit by bit. Also exercise at home. Squats weights sit ups, all these help.

As for food, I've finally found my perfect diet. I joined Slimming world, lost 5lb the first week, and 2lb this week. I'm eating more that I have before but the right stuff. NO weighing or measuring the majority of food, the only thing I weigh is my cereal in the morning.

Hope you can get back in a good place, I know all about the dark side. see you soon vv

Hi all,

I posted this over in the shopping discount thread but figured it would be of use to all of us on the WW thread too!

I use a website called http://www.musclefood.com to have quality meat delivered to my home. It's way cheaper than the supermarket and saves myself and the OH a small fortune. For example, 5kg of chicken breast is only £25! Even using the "3 for £10" offer in my local Tesco, it would cost about £50 for the same amount of chicken breast.

At the moment, the website has an offer of a £20 off Voucher for Veal Escalope Steaks! So instead of £39, you p*y just £19 for 10-15 steaks.

Use code: VE4292 at checkout, after adding 5 packs to your basket. http://www.musclefood.com/veal-escalopes.html

Expires midnight Sunday (11/8/13)

Also, if you don't fancy the veal steaks, add the code RW4633 and you'll get four free chicken breasts with your order.

Enjoy! :D

Aruif hi dear ,

I actually wanted to to reply earlier when you posted this message but we have had Eid celebrations for the past couple of days and I couldnt manage the time to reply how i wanted . Now i have some time i would like for you to consider the following:

First and foremost - TAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF , you are making yourself worse by worrying and stressing yourself out, just take a step back for a day or so and breathe and give yourself some good quality time, whatever it is you enjoy doing, take a day or even 2 days to escape from your stresses and do it . Do not waste these days worrying about anything at all , whatever it is can wait a couple days , your on holiday :)

Next, please visit the below links

http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutriti ... 29296.html

Above link is a for a pack of ground oats , flavoured, you can choose any flavour you wish, b*y it

with it b*y this

http://www.myprotein.com/protein-access ... 85092.html

and also

http://www.myprotein.com/protein-access ... 30367.html

Now, every morning , mix 2 scoops of the flavoured ground oats with 400ml of skimmed or semi skimmed milk into the shaker bottle , give it a good shake and drink , have a banana with this .

This will have all nutrients you will need and it will keep you satisfied and full all the way till up to lunch time . total 450-500 calories including the banana.

At lunch time shake up another portion of the instant oats exact same as brekkie except this time have it with an apple. 450-500 calories and will keep you full for ages .

no snacks in between and you will be so full and satisfied that you wont even need to snack , however if you do fancy some tea or coffee then help yourself so long as it is without sugar , sweetner is ok. you may also have a yoghurt mid afternoon with your tea if you wish .

have dinner early, between 5pm and 6pm , unless your working and cannot then as soon as you get home from work. you will have spent in total about 1000 calories by now , which leaves you 1000 calories for your dinner ! use up this calories in full if you want as there is nothing wrong with 2000 calories for the day , so for dinner have anything that you want , treat yourself to anything but try to keep sensible too , have a proper dinner that will satisfy you and also the type of dinner that you will look forward to during the day (this will give you all the strength and motivation you will need to stay on the daytime oats diet) . Dont sleep until at least 2 or 3 hours after eating .

this diet is not one that i have read anywhere , i can only say that its a diet that ive recommended to family and friends and those who have stuck to it i have personally seen good results in , i know it works , a lot of people have actually gone on to recommend this their own friends too .

So basically as the old slimfast adverts used to go

a shake in the morning, a shake in the afternoon and a proper dinner.

If you stick with it im sure you will be well on your way to success.

Secondly,

you can do it

plain and simple.

Whatever your goals, you can do it .

If you think about all the people all over the world who have very little food and drink and are still able to work and live this itself should be motivation enough for you to succeed, they do it and other people have done it and so can you, the human capacity to be able to achieve is completely mindblowing, we can all acheive anything we would like to so long as we put our minds to it, focus and work for it . please try to read the inspiration posts as there some real gems on there to help you with motivation.

Thirdly

As regards Excerise, dont stress about this just yet, as the key to healthy lifestyle is 70 percent diet and 30 percent excerise, lets just get your eating and dieting in order to begin with, then we can focus in on the excerise, if you take on on too much to begin with and jump into the deep end then i fear you may jump straight back out again. See how you get on with diet for about a week and then you can get an excerisie plan into action, the key with getting a healthy lifestyle is to do everything one step at a time , this way you will ease into everything and hopefully stick with it for life and nothing will too burdonsome.

Lastly

Going back to the first point just to reiterate and drive it home, TAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF. Give yoruself the holiday before you start the oat shake diet, by the way, the oat shake is DELICIOUS , trust me . If you try to enjoy your life and not stress and do take things as they come day by day things will be a lot easier, you may not even feel like your achieveing anything, it may be that you start to actually enjoy doing all these things and hence start thinking that you are not achieveing, but this is not the case, its WHEN you start enjoying thats when the real achievement and results will be happening :)

I hope you didnt mind me replying as i know we have never spoken before , but i do feel that we are all a community here and we should all be here for support and help, this messsage to you was my advice , i hope you take it but if not then i hope it is because you found some better advice elsewhere instead :)

Whatever you decide to do and however you do it i wish you all the best and every successs and above all - happiness

:)

Thank you so much for all of your support - it does really help. I managed to speak to a few friends today and explain my issues.

I know I need to have counselling or something as I have eating issues that go back to around the age of 5 or so. I know WHAT I need to do to lose the weight, I just have no mental strength to keep it up and everything falls back. it's not an excuse but a contributing factor that I have a medical condition that fucks up my weight too, so really it should be looking at trying to control this (it's not diabetes or thyroid)- i've only managed to keep up 2 changes; 1 i only have skimmed milk, 2 i only eat wholewheat or seeded bread (99.8%).

Today I have eaten 3 meals! not the best 3 meals but 3 none the less - this is my 1st goal. to eat three times a day.

i have made myself the most beautiful fruit bowl to pick at for snacks.

It exhausts me mentally and physically trying to deal with this - it really does so I thank you all for your support <3
