I for one do know, because every year at work, we start planning in August to see who's going to work Xmas and New Year. The way we do it, it does literally take almost 5 months to organise because it's such a big issue. As long as I get to work both, I don't care!

OMG in August?! I'm sure your colleagues love that you wish to work both. I prefer to stay at home on the sofa with my duvet and rubbish TV (I can picture it now!), and even better if I can take the days off in between. Sadly I only have half a day left until January so will have to come in in the intervening days. Joy. Not so bad as it's usually quiet, but we have to acocunt for our time so bosses can tell when you're slacking, ahem, I mean not busy. Sigh...

Only in August? We can put in holiday requests 6 months before so middle of June I am there with my holiday form! We can normally book leave a whole year ahead; just not Xmas and New Year. So I think generally we are very lucky and I have already booked my normal May week for 2010. The thing about Xmas and New Year for us is that more people want a whole week off (or two) than can have it, so there has to be a draw. I'm just glad I never want leave then, because you can't book a holiday until you know you have the time off, and it might then be too late. It suits me to work as I can't do the other things I like: cinemas and theatres close or have limited performances and it's not walking weather.Beate wrote:Only in August?
