Good morning, everyone! :D

I've just been looking through your Daily Menus, Moggers and Diane. They look very tasty and healthy too! I'm particularly liking the sound of Moggers' homemade chilli. o/

The mention of that, and the now infamous courgette soup from last week, has got me thinking that I'm still eating far too many pre-processed ready-meals. .

From now on, I think I'll try and cut down on the convenience food and get back to some basic "proper" cookery instead. It's got to be tastier, healthier, cheaper and more fun doing it that way. I do chop up loads of fresh salad, but rarely actually cook proper meals as such. The few times I do, I really quite enjoy myself, despite not being very accomplished at it.

Diane, I was relieved to hear that you'll be topping up those scarce calories with "some healthy snacks throughout the day" o/

I'm dead impressed also that even though you'll be working till 7:30, you'll still manage to fit a walk in tonight as well o/

Does everyone still do a weekly weigh-in, like when I was last around? ......Or will it just be me?

Today's Menu

1. Muesli, skimmed milk, wild hand picked blackberries. (still got loads left - but they'll need using up soon as they are a bit mushy due to collecting them in, and subsequently getting them back out of, a thin necked drinks bottle (it was all I had with me on the bike)

2. Grilled Mackerel and courgettes with orange salad.

3. Jacket potato with tuna and mayonaise and chopped up salady things.

4. Tea and 2 McVities milk chocolate digestives.

I've decided to give the bike and my legs the day off today! but I do have a bit of vacuuming planned which I'm hoping should burn at least a few calories off!! :D

I also make a homemade chicken curry and I've found ryvita crackerbread almost makes a passible prawn cracker.... Almost ;)

Housework and the school runs are my exercise today. Dentist later eek! Will be at the gym tomorrow and friday.
Menu so far is
Large matzo cracker with asda reduced fat chilli cheese spread
Two slices wholemeal toast (small loaf) with beans for lunch
Homemade chilli for dinner again as it's football night for DH and DS.

I'll be chopping up salady things for tomorrows mixed salad dinner as DD has choir. Probably not as good as salad a la Moyles though! Mmmm pie and cake!!

Hi guys, great to see you all in full throttle with the health and fitness pursuits :)

Preston, heard you were back, so just had to drop in! I see Valda is rocketing to superfit stardom and everyone else here seems to be on a roll...I hope its wholewheat ;) sorry...

Keep it up everyone. I too, need to shed some body fat, although my sporting pursuits have been very progressive this year. I have just reached Division 2 of my squash league...next target to reach division 1 by Christmas. Cricket-wise, I have become a better, more consistent opener fast bowler than ever but my goal to be the best in my team has been thwarted yet again by an ex-England Test Captain...yep, an ex-England Test Captain on my team...albeit, The England Deaf team. He is a great cricketer though, its great to have him on my team but man, is he making it hard for me to get that best bowler award...realistically, he's won that already :( But being the club manager, I might just award myself for most improved player award...heh..ok that's just abusing my power :(

Right, so plan for this week. Hit the gym 4 times, 2 of them combined with squash games then 2 X 10km runs from Cineworld (will try to catch Wolverine and Elysium).

Diet wise...well to continue covering all the nutrient foods, lower the fat, lower the complex carbs. Have been eating too much of those during summer, mainly because I have lots of jobs, I did get lazy in what I eat...and it shows.

So I'm with you guys now, lets rock! Well done all of you for encouraging each other and for your own progress in your health/fitness pursuits. (EJwrank, you too, its always great getting encouragement from you o/ )

Oh and a special word for DIane, she told me to come back on here, I'm glad she did :) Throughout the history of this thread, there have been so many people who comes and goes (including me), making great achievements and progress, and encouraging each other...I have certainly been reaping the vibes of encouragement from everyone here in the past. But only one person has been doing that continuously right from the beginning, a superstar since 3-4 years ago and not just a superstar but a superstar model at that, making terrific health & fitness achievements and MORE IMPORTANTLY has maintained her healthy goals and lifestyle. She did it just just right and continues to do so, always learning more from experts. She didnt lose weight too quickly, didnt suffer and stress from drastic changes because when you do, its hard to maintain that and enjoy your journey. She did it perfectly, gradually and enjoyed it. A perfect model example. Bit by bit, improved on diet, introduced more workouts but without sacrificing happiness in her everyday activities. Gradual improvements is much easier to adapt than to jump right in to strict diets. However, some people can which is great and hopefully you can maintain that, I fully support you. I am just saying not to be too impatient, there are drawbacks to losing weight too quickly and in neglecting to consume the required spectrum of vitamins and minerals in your diet. One such drawback that actually happened to me was having loose skin, thankfully my one was not too bad and in about a year it had detracted with the help of some extra abs exercises. But it can be worse. Other side effects can occur if you lose too quickly so be patient. losing 1-2 lbs a week is healthy, above that, is not so healthy but it does depend on the individual.

So regardless of the difference in our goals and pursuits, I will personally follow her example of continued pursuit for more knowledge in healthy living, sensibilities in how we pursue our goals, to build on our achievements, and to maintaining the fruits of our achievements. Those virtues apply to everyone whether, you are a bodybuilder, sportsman, office worker, young student, or just someone just simply wanting to be healthier and a little fitter, the same principle applies.

With all that said, thanks for those lovely cupcakes at the fmuk picnic, Diane :shifty:

Wayhay! Some good news in a world that is distinctly lacking in much at the moment! :cheer:

Mr G, It's really lovely to see you back treading these hallowed boards once again! :D
I was always a great fan of your posts, and it was your presence on this very thread that drew me to the Weight Watchers forum in the first place.

Congratulations for the improvements you have made to your squash game - I remember you saying some time ago that you were looking to improve it, and I guess from what you are saying now, you have had significant success with it, but it remains an ongoing process. It's nice that you've set your next target to aim for. Look out Division 1 - I've no doubt you'll make it by Christmas - but good luck with it anyway. o/

I smiled a little at your comments about feeling somewhat thwarted in your cricketing exploits. I can see how irritating it must be to have your "best team bowler" ambition apparently scuppered by the arrival of a cricketing legend, just when that goal looked in sight for you.

But....You could look at it another way, couldn't you?......I mean what a fabulous opportunity for you to be able glean some expert hints, tips and clues from the new arrival to bring your standard up towards his. Who knows, with his help and coaching, you may well surpass him one day!! Even if that never happened, and he always remained better than you, having him there to share his knowledge would almost certainly improve your game above the level you may have achieved by yourself.

Don't forget though, if he's an ex-England Test Captain - he's likely on his way down - You my friend are still heading upwards on your journey of cricketing excellence!!

So either way you'll be better off!! Win, Win as they say Mr Glass o/
.... :shifty: Although, doesn't cricket always end in a draw?......sorry! :p

Co-incidentally, me listening to your good advice on here has in the past played a large part in my dieting success. Hopefully now that you are back that will make it so much easier for me to claw myself back to where I was last year, and then move on from there. ;)

Bring on those tips and clues Mr G! o/

I know I've rattled on a bit here, but it would be remiss of me not to echo those lovely things that you said about Diane. She is the stalwart and rock of the thread. Always there encouraging others in her own inimitable compassionate, caring and helpful way. Better stop there, otherwise she'll be mortified by all the praise. ;)

:shifty: Wouldn't want to "bowl a maiden over", eh? Mr G ;)
....Besides, all I ever get from her are insults! Pah!....Chris Moyles indeed! ;)

I still say she should eat more veg, though I accept she must be doing something right!!

You two gentleman are so lovely and I certainly don't deserve all that wonderful praise but thanks for being so lovely. I actually got very choked up reading this and it really does mean so much to me especially coming from very good friends.

It made me smile with MrGlass saying I told him to come on here (ie I'm bossy) and Preston1990 saying that I give out insults (ie I'm insulting) :giggle: You two must meet up at next years FMUK as you would get on like a house on fire in real life too. o/ I think that there are such wonderful people on this thread and each and everyone one of you make it what it is.

Glad you liked the cakes ;)

I fear the worst  Eating everybody's cakes was not a good idea :nono:

Just had Special K and tons of raspberries for breakfast will be having a cup a soup wholemeal roll and a yoghurt for lunch followed by an omelette and huge salad for dinner (notice the veg MrG and Preston  - I love vegetables I'm just a bit lazy if I'm not prompted).

It will be the DVD tonight as off to Venice next weekend and there are a lot of slim people there (just been looking up places to visit when I get there and everybody seems to be super slim)

Be good everyone and good luck Preston even though you gave me the evils as I ate your cake ;)
