I'm none too pleased with them either. I sent off for some wellies for my grandson as we couldn't get his size anywhere. I pa*d over £8 in postage for express delivery.
Yesterday, there was a ring at our entryphone but there was no-one there by the time OH answered it.
These delivery drivers just don't allow enough time for people to answer before they speed off again with the parcel.
No card was left but I suspected it might have been them so I phoned the company today and they looked it up on the Parcelforce tracking system. The system said that there was no answer so it had been left for collection "at the post office". There was no indication of which post office this was so I then had to phone the Parcelforce depot to establish where it was and then go and collect it - a lot of extra hassle for me, just because the driver can't be bothered to wait for an answer or fill in a card!
It happens to me a lot. I got so fed up running down three flights to see the back of the parcelforce van speeding away, and no card, that I have stuck a typed note under my bell now saying "Please ring and wait - it is a long way down" My bell also says Top Floor Flat! And it has worked a treat now.
I agree Royal Mail is a mess even before snow. I sent something First Class by "Signed For" delivery to my friend for her birthday. When it had not turned up after a week, I called customer service who told me to leave it for another 15 days and then I can filed that it had been lost! Sounds like it is a usual occurence.

Luckily, it turned up 3 weeks later, so much for first class.

It's not just Royal Mail or ParcelForce, DHL are bad too! A few months ago, ie before the snow, I ordered something for my niece. DHL were supposed to deliver on Friday, no one showed up. They rearranged for Tuesday, no one showed up.
When I made a complaint they said that their courier showed up at 5.15pm and had taken a photo of the entrance gate. I asked to see it with the time of the photo. They sent me a photo of a panel of numbers, which weren't mine, because mine say the name of the building on it. Also, it was complete rubbish that they'd rung and rung the bell, because I'd only got out of hospital at the time, so was at home all day, everyday.
The time stamp on the photo was changed to show the date and time of Customer Service sending the email.
When I pointed all this out, I had no response.

That reminds me, when you had been at home all day, and you go to go out, you find in your letterbox a card to say they tried to deliver, and there was no one in! That is so annoying!

In my local paper today Royal Mail admitted not having emptied any post boxes from last Thursday evening until this Monday morning. I can certainly vouch for the fact that they were full when I tried to post something this week. You don't know whether to risk it because someone could come along and help himself to a handful from the top.

Well it wouldn't be a Xmas card, for sure: they also said some of those wouldn't be delivered until January.

Good thing you've got enough food prepared to last until the New Year! I can imagine you are getting pretty sick and tired of all that snow by now. We're thinking of you, andrews!
