Re: The Diary Room
It is good news but I don't blame hdaniel82 for feeling she's had enough and wants to escape. How many times can anyone endure that much stress?

Re: The Diary Room
Absolutely agree with you Ms_T, I too don't blame her for wanting to leave either. I'd do the same in her position (infact I feel the same way about my own organisation). I'm just glad though that she wasn't on the list for it.

It does seem quite stressful but the job market is very difficult at the
moment so best to stay put.

Re: The Diary Room
I suppose hdaniel82's 3rd escape suggests she is valued and I know the job market is tough at present, but if I was younger and had the endorsement of having been thrice spared redundancy, I think I'd also want to get out whilst the going was good.

Re: The Diary Room
Our new government wants to give people less job security though with upping the "first year" rule to two years which is unbelievably callous in my eyes.

Re: The Diary Room
I dislike my job and would love to leave but worried may not get anything. Problem with my company is that their maternity package is brilliant so that's why I can't leave! (in case I also want another one)

Yes, just a sackers' charter. If they do manage to change the law, I hope those already in new jobs will have reserved rights to the previous terms.

Re: The Diary Room
That's what I think too at times but then is the stress really worth the hassle? There's no harm looking for a new job, you just have to hope you're not landing in the middle of a restructure and the new post isn't being deleted!tilly wrote:It does seem quite stressful but the job market is very difficult at the

I think it's more the fact she's a hard worker so not easily replaceable so getting rid of her would actually be a loss to her company. I highly doubt it's because she's valued. If she felt that way, she'd want to stay!Ms Thrifty wrote:I suppose hdaniel82's 3rd escape suggests she is valued and I know the job market is tough at present, but if I was younger and had the endorsement of having been thrice spared redundancy, I think I'd also want to get out whilst the going was good.

Re: The Diary Room
Couldn't agree with you more. I think it will only allow for more workplace bullying since employers will have the upper hand. If this does come into force, gosh I will really seriously hate the people who voted for this shoddy new government.Beate wrote:Our new government wants to give people less job security though with upping the "first year" rule to two years which is unbelievably callous in my eyes.
Have all your little ones, and then leave. My organisation has a good maternity package too. Infact, it's so good that the women seem to be getting pregnant as soon as they come back from maternity leave.tilly wrote:I dislike my job and would love to leave but worried may not get anything. Re: The Diary Room
I suppose your employer might value you, even if you didn't feel that way yourself? Anyway, it sounds like a case of the writing on the wall - and what it's saying is "Jump before you're pushed!"
