Me and my brains were missing, funthing... I am not too happy about my 24 month Blackberry contract either!

Who knew Android phones will get so much better. RIM's app store/market is absolute rubbish! I still love my BB and don't completely regret getting it, but there is regret undoubtedly... I could have gotten the HTC with the keyboard (I do love BB's keyboard and firmly believe one should have 2 phones at all times - one touch screen and one with QWERTY keyboard, I couldn't possibly survive without my BB and San Francisco).

And why did OH get so involved with mobile phones only after I got the contract. To be honest I don't quite have the nerve to read forums thoroughly, he is like my personal Spark Notes :D Summarizing everything for me...

Funthing, if you hate your phone that much and have some extra cash - Orange in Clapham (and other stores I guess) now sell the San Francisco for £79.99 in store - it is amazing value for money. I've had it since November - works like a charm, endless number of applications and customizations and enormous Modaco support. The subforum for San Francisco is the most visited/posted in one. You can find unlock codes free online without a problem, it's an absolute hit this phone... The touchscreen is really good and fast as well, it is no iphone or Samsung Galaxy, but it is close. i just love love love love it, I even got it for £69.99 so I love it even more :D

Carphone Warehouse

Amazing clearance on phones this Thursday

It's all stores with stock and available online as well from Thursday via http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/clearance

Found it on HUKD

£50 for a SIM free LG Optimus is great or £100 for HTC Wildfire, £150 for Sony Ericsson X10

Those are superb prices alright. Nice heads up. Though I wont be getting any, I'm waiting for the HTC Sensation to arrive at Orange next month.

Jealous!!!!! Deeply jealous! I have to wait for my contract to be over... 9-10 more months. As my OH says though - it always pays off to wait and not be... what was the word.. firstbuyer? That was the meaning anyway. In 10 months there will be better deals, and better phones but there is another matter :D

I might try and b*y a LG for £50 for my parents, it's sim free and android, I will just install a lot of games for my father :D

Your OH is wise. Me, however, am far from it :p I am always getting new phones even without contract, I just sell off the old one and b*y a sim free new handset! But since my Orange is running out of pips shortly, I might as well wait a few weeks ;)

But I do mostly b*y phone sim free and unbranded, if I am in the middle of my 2 contracts. If they are branded, I would unbrand them. Simply because networks pile on so much crap on them that they degrade the phones potential and performance. Easier to apply custom roms too, which I am into. And like yourself I always have 2 phones on me too :) There was a time I carried 3 but I accept now that was riddiculous! It used to be one Symbian, one android and one windows mobile!

Well while all the rest of you are b*ying the latest mobiles, here I am with my ancient (10 years plus but the battery still hasn't given up) and I have won a battle over 02 who switched it off recently because I didn't use it enough. They refused to put my credit back on unless I topped it up (and as I use it so rarely the last thing I wanted to do was top it up.) Well 02 have now given me £10 credit and an apology. So that to my mind is a result.

Hehehehehehe 3 phones is a bit over the top I agree.. Having said that for my trip back home it looks like I will be packing 3 phones (my 2 usual phones + one for my home sim card.. that would be one android, one symbian and one rim), 1 netbook and 1 kindle and if my OH didn't read on it I would have taken the tablet as well, oh and one ipod... I am a victim of technology, I just love love love love gadgets! If I had the money I would be purchasing a transformer, samsung galaxy sii and htc sensation probably............. Good thing, or not, I don't have them!

OH installed a Modaco rom and soon as we unboxed our orange san francisco phones, all the orange crap that was pre-installed on the phone - a crime to android!

And as of my OH's wisdom... shortly after he sold me the "don't be a firstbuyer" he drafted a complicated plan involving his credit card, savings and selling phones on ebay, where he would do what you do - always b*y the newest phones and sell his old phones... So, not so wise after all :D The explanation was "phones are my thing, what can I do?!"

its our guilty pleasure denichka, and why not? :) We work, we love gadgets so we treat ourselves! And you know what, its healthy to treat ourselves as long as we work to earn it ;)

And while you are at the other end of the spectrum to us gadget crazy nutters, that's a pretty awesome result o/ Don't let the networks bully you! And well done for making good use of your old phone which I admit are probably a far lot better at making calls than most of these smart phones today!

Well I also use a very basic phone, but I do update it. I use up the credit a little more quickly, but if you do run it down it might be worth looking at some of the deals around before topping up.

I recently b*ght a new Nokia (basic model - 1800 and there was a choice of brands) for 1p plus compulsory £10 credit. Total outlay £10.01 less cashback £7.57 through online cashback site. Net cost of £2.44 for brand new phone plus £10 credit.
