Interesting to see which of the Galas are not selling, W.E. and Anonymous. It would be funny if Madonna or Roland end up getting Oscar nominations for their films.
Even the Descendants isn't selling, I was surprised I got circle tickets! They never give out circle tickets to the public normally.

All 3 screenings of The Descendants online are sold out except for a single seat at the Gala showing and public booking doesn't start till Monday!

oh okay I didn't actually click into see how many were left, but I just saw it's available! but it's very unusual for them to offer circle seats to non-production staff, non- "hey I know someone" people...

I still think it's odd the release date for Tin tin is in October, it's a bit early for a supposed big holiday blockbuster? Pardon the pun, I wouldn't be surprised if it is the surprise film. The premiere is on the same weekend as the surprise film.

I would be incredibly surprised if Tin Tin turns out to be the surprise film. I think it's highly unlikely that it will be a film that is having it's premiere earlier in the day and is only out three days later. I'm interested in seeing Tin Tin but would be annoyed if that was shown.

My guesses include The Rum Diary, My Week with Marilyn, Moneyball, Haywire, The Woman in Black or Piranha 3DD (just kidding). Outside bets for films that are probably a bit too high-profile include The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Iron Lady or J Edgar.

I'll miss out on the surprise myself for the first time in 14 years as I already have tickets to see Bon Iver at the Hammersmith Apollo on the 23rd. So I'm going to the BFI member's surprise film at the BFI Southbank the following day and will be attempting to avoid twitter and this site for the time in between. I suspect I'll be unsuccessful and somebody at the NFT1 who does find out beforehand what it is will probably give it away.

Yep she normally doesn't go for the high profile....
but it's her last year, maybe she wants to pop a surprise and bring Spielberg to the surprise screening.
I think it's a little too early for the Woman in Black and as for Moneyball, the trailer didn't look great.

It's varied over the years. The first one I did, I queued on the night. Since then it's been through the postal booking form for the most part. I was unsuccessful last year, but managed to pick up a ticket online when more tickets were released.

As for The Woman in Black, it's released on the 10th February next year, just a week after the date that Brighton Rock was released this year so I wouldn't rule it out. In fact that was about the same time that School of Rock came out also (another of Hebron's surprise film choices).
Also Moneyball has been pretty successful both commercially (admittedly only just opened but in the No1 spot for Friday) and critically (currently 94% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the Aaron Sorkin connection won't hurt it's chances of being a possibility either.

Those films are far too commercial...
I just want to play down my expectations, as every year I go, I always end up with some obscure film, which I wouldn't have pa*d to see.
I hope Sandra goes for something more popular in her last year
