I have seen the latest released pictures from this film as I'm a huge horror fan, but really was that a real question? I thought that Tennant was just in this movie as the comic element and that you were all taking the Michael. I've never thought of Tennant as eye candy....that's just strange (well it is to me anyway)
As for Farrell, well I like his acting but it most definitely stops there.
I'm still full of envy with those of you who were lucky enough to preview this film, but only because I'm such a fan of the original.

Not taking the Mickey, I'm actually a big fan of Tennant's er... work.

I am being serious! :P When I said "er... work" I meant his shirtlessness in this movie but I do love Taking Over the Asylum, Casanova, Doctor Who and his theater work :)

No, sorry I can't resist the temptation to refer back to your Tennant attraction and connect this back to "you love Taking Over the Asylum" Sorry, I'm a cheeky Moo,Moo ;)

That's ok, as long as you didn't think that I was making a cheeky reference to you being crazy because of your attraction to Tennant :shifty:

I think I'm now allowed to say I thought this was terrible. Completely lacking the charm and likeability of the original (which may have dated somewhat but it's still fun). The acting is mostly really good and I enjoyed David Tennant in it but to give these characters the same names as those played by Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall, William Ragsdale and Stephen Geoffreys is an insult.
A pretty poor script is largely to blame. Whole sections of it make absolutely no sense. Just watch the original.
Ridiculously long review to come on week of release. I do spend quite a lot of it comparing the two films. I originally was going to try and avoid doing that but finally decided the script of the remake made that impossible.

I, however, really really enjoyed this film. Really funny, entertaining and just a joyful, pleasurable good time to watch it.
Not that scary, thankfully, but definitely having fun with what you might expect from it, and with some great performances from Colin Farrell and David Tennant especially, it was a film in which I had a smile slapped across my face from beginning to end, and plan to catch it again on release.
Good times.
8/10
