Yes this one is a gem, really funny and warm. Lovely screening at Apollo Piccadilly Circus, very full too. Only annoyance is that it started more than 20 minutes late.

I agree about the end credits though, it was too sudden and unexplained that they are the same person. Didn't understand why
he let Driss go instead of move his son in as well? Wouldn't that have killed 2 birds with one stone?
Just back from seeing this in a less than half full cinema at Braehead Glasgow. I have to say that reading the synopsis of the movie didn't exactly encourage me to go and see it and I didn't really expect much. Have to say I was wrong wrong wrong. What a great movie. I don't generally laugh out loud at movies, but this one made me laugh a lot. It was a real feel good movie with perfect interpretations of the characters by the actors. A very very good script and the film even better for it being a true story. Plenty of witty one liners and I loved watching the relationship develop between the 2 men. I don't think that they should do a remake as they couldn't possibly better the acting by the two main characters. Even though it was subtitled I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone. At least 9/10.

I just discovered that there was a documentary (A la vie, a la mort) which tells the story of the encounter between Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, and Abdel Sellou (who is called Drizz in the film).

Also, they each have written a book about their encounter "A Second Wind" (Philippe Pozzo di Borgo) and "You Changed My Life" (Abdel Sellou).

Has anyone seen the doc or read the books?

No to both questions, Kaybeelon, but might try and locate them . . . unless someone else finds them (hint, hint! ) and posts details on here.

If that helps this is what I found so far:

A Second Wind" is out of stock at Amazon, I havn't tried bockshops yet, but apparently it is available through the Telegraph Website
http://books.telegraph.co.uk/BerteShopW ... 1471110481

"You Changed my Life" will allegedly be available through Amazon in 1 to 3 weeks

The doc I havn't found.

I think the point was
that being a carer took up a lot of time and he needed to concentrate on his family to get his cousin (not his son) on the right track, along with his family members. I suppose it looked like fun the time they were spending together but maybe only had a couple of hours to himself during the day and needed a lot more time that that to fully concentrate on his family.
Not his... oh stupid me. I know what you're saying elski, just thought it might have benefited the young fella to live in a different environment.

yeah but I think it was about the whole family being neglected, the mother/aunt clearly need the help and support for all the kids.

Saw this last night at the Odeon on Holloway Road and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love Francois Cluzet (who is also terrific in 'Tell No One') and thought that the film was really well balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. It managed to be funny, charming and thought provoking without spending too long being over-sentimental. Possibly my favourite of the year so far.......
