Latecomers to screenings and other cinema nuisances

Re: Latecomers to screenings.
Perhaps this thread should be renamed "Latecomers to/eating in screenings", since it has strayed somewhat off-topic (mea culpa) but obviously combines two issues of concern to many members?
So far as the choice and price of food and drink on sale in cinemas is concerned, I'd be more likely to b*y things if the prices were more reasonable and the range healthier. But as long as all that is on offer is expensive, noisome "food" which is high in fat and/or sugar and low in nutrient value, I'll continue to provide my own supplies, discreetly. Cinemas which claim to offer "premium" snacks (e.g Curzon) are no better as the prices are still ridiculous and the food and drinks just as harmful to health - it's just fancier, dearer junk.

And to the latecomers, who always seem to be eating!Ms Thrifty wrote:Perhaps this thread should be renamed "Latecomers to/eating in screenings", since it has strayed somewhat off-topic (mea culpa) but obviously combines two issues of concern to many members?
(And I too am guilty of straying in this thread!)

Ms Thrifty wrote:Actually, when I went to the cinema as a student, I sometimes took a small tub of frozen mousse, as a cheap alternative to ice cream. But obviously that wouldn't work if you had a long journey to the cinema or for theatres, when you'd need to wait for the interval and anyway, I've no idea whether you can still b*y these little tubs.
I was saying on the WW thread, why can't they do snack a jacks or frozen fat free yoghurt or other low cal stuff? I certainly would b*y it

If you go to a cinema with a Ben & Jerry's they have a couple of their ice cream flavours also as frozen yoghurt and its delicious, but Ben and Jerry's is so expensive.
I might be the only one but when I go to the cinema I see it as an opportunity to have a treat and pig out on Popcorn or Nacho's (but I do it as quietly as possible, I hate loud munchers).

Why oh why whenever I go to the showcase in Manchester (not very often) do I end up sitting behind a couple who can't stop snogging when we are trying to watch the film!!! Going on Sunday morning so hopefully they will still be in bed!!!

Worst thing for me is people who come in, squeeze past you, sit down, take their coats off and *then* decide they need the loo/some food or whatever and make you get up again. Unbelievably annoying!

Diane65 - I'll be there too on Sunday.
I'm taking my other half but I promise that we will refrain from snogging during the film

Re: Latecomers to screenings and other cinema nuisances
I was at the Cineworld Shaftsbury Ave yesterday, I've never ever seen it so busy! I think it must have been the Blindside screening plus the Telegraph free screenings. We ended up starting late for the film and still had like 20 latecomers
