Sorry, to hear that you lost your scarf, Beate. How could someone find it and not hand it in? I hope they do and you get your scarf back.

Adding to scarf losses at the cinema -- son David lost his Arsenal scarf at Islington Vue last year. We looked and looked but someone had nicked it.

Re: Flight
Shame for making us queue for the premiere! Its a premiere for goodness sake, not Xfactor auditions!
so anyway, I thought it was good, you were really rooting for him, even though you shouldn't. I've not seen the trailer but I should imagine its really misleading
Re Denzel, he looked like he did, to fit the character, all flabby and puffy faced, even looking like that, he's great for 58 years old
Kelly Reilly was looking so familiar, but I couldn't remember what I'd seen her in. she's actually English and was the star of a TV series, Above Suspicion or something like that. I thought she was very good.
I was a bit disappointed to find out the story wasn't true, but an amalgamation of true events. Its a shame that they made the happy ending if you know what I mean. As to the taking of Coke before the hearing. He knows what to do to get him straight ish
7/10

Re: Flight
It rather trivialised the taking of coke, no? Hungover and in a bad state? Take cocaine and you'll suddenly be absolutely fine and think straight! Very odd and I imagine it's caused a fair bit of controversy. Also, so many films that are 'baesd on true stories' are so loosely based that I don't think it really matters. What matters is a good story.
valda wrote:Shame for making us queue for the premiere! Its a premiere for goodness sake, not Xfactor auditions!

Perhaps, it is the staff. If I find something I would give it to the staff. It's bad when it is nicked though. How can people wear other people's scarfs that they know full well has been lost, or nicked! Let's be observant at screenings, to see if anyone is wearing your scarfs!ejwrank wrote:Adding to scarf losses at the cinema -- son David lost his Arsenal scarf at Islington Vue last year. Re: Flight
Just got back from the screening, after hearing mixed reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed the film. Very good and moving portrayal of both alcohol and substance abuse, and the destruction it can cause. I thought both Denzel and Kelly's characters in the film were excellent and I loved how the ending left you wanting more. In terms of criticisms, the one thing I would say is the film is quite long and could maybe be shortened down. But, despite that I give it a 8/10.
The q&a session after with Denzel & Kelly was great. It was really nice to see them both in the flesh, it was just a shame they couldn't get the mics to work and had to rely on 'projecting'..... Given that I was too busy gawping at how hot Denzel looks for his age, I don't think the lack of mics was a big problem

Re: Flight
I have also just returned from the screening at Covent Garden Odeon. How is it that the microphones NEVER work at Q & A sessions? Doesn't anybody think to check this beforehand? Anyway, I thought the film was a lot better than many others on here. Not outstanding but certainly worth a couple of hours of my time. Denzel Washington and Kelly Reilly both seemed very nice and Denzel 'projected' just fine. I found the director too wordy and with every other phrase being 'you know', it became tedious, you know, but it didn't go on forever and it was good to see them all there. Kelly Reilly is incredibly skinny and now I remember seeing her in the TV series 'Above Suspicion'. And I remember Denzel Washington from way back in the US TV series 'St Elsewhere' which I think may have been his big break.

Re: Flight
An awesome way to celebrate the end of exams/my birthday. I thought the film was terrific, with plenty of standout moments (though the crash is my personal favourite, purely for its horror). The performances, especially from Washington, easily match the quality of the writing, and while it is quite long its always entertaining. 8/10

I do agree about the director, it was literally every other word, it made it very hard to understand what he was trying to get across for me.ejwrank wrote:I have also just returned from the screening at Covent Garden Odeon. I was very surprised at how thin Kelly was, she was so tiny in the flesh. Aaaaah so that's where I'd seen her before... I spent the whole of the q&a wondering where I'd seen her before lol and still couldn't figure it out
