Re: Rush
Loved it - a film that rarely put a foot wrong. Great performances by Hemsworth and Brühl and technically outstanding throughout.
Best sports movie I've seen in a long time. I loved the subtle links between man and car, that moment when Lauda practically turns into a machine is really creepy. More about that in my full write-up:

Re: Rush
What a stunning film! Positively blinding!
This movie had all the high octane excitement and action of real life Formula One and was so realistic that it was almost as if the actual people were playing themselves.
I'm sure there must have been CGI aplenty, but it was not obvious. Indeed any stock footage from the era was blended seemlessly with new filming. Plenty of raw emotion too.
Highly recommended. Definitely one of the best films for me this year.

Re: Rush
The most enjoyable movie I watched this year! Wasn't into Motorsport but would love to know more now

...or a trilogy!steve9872 wrote:It was 2 hours long and I thought it needed to be much longer. Too many of the stories were skipped over. Blink and you miss what happened to some people, in other cases you didn't even need to blink. This needed to be a mini series.

Loved this. Edinburgh was only 60% full.
Chris Hemsworth had bulked down and looked so much the better for it!
I'm a huge F1 fan, so this was exhilarating and refreshing. Brilliant, really well done.

Maybe the Fort was quiet 'cause I went to Braehead . . . .scootermcc wrote:New Vue at Glasgow Fort is well worth visiting even got a guided tour after the film.It was the quietest free show that I have been at,must have been only about 40 people there.Yinster wrote:Back from Glasgow Fort. Nice new cinema. And Scootermcc is such a cinema geek.
I too don't really follow Formula One so didn't know the outcome of this story beforehand which I think helps gives the film the thrill and spills so to speak. It was stunning to watch with a good story to boot. 8/10
Maybe I should change my name to cinema geek.Oh and the film wasn't bad either but I don't think that it will be for everyone given the subject matter.

I have to admit that the 2 hours did pass very quickly and I did find the story interesting. I didn't really warm to either real life character though the acting was superb for the main characters. I do think that Hunt's life was sanitised in some areas eg drugs . . . perhaps to retain his "play boy" image.

Marks 6.5/10
Re: Rush
Just a teeny point: the word asshole was used with regular frequency in this movie. I can't help feeling that this is an Americanism and can't recall any great use of this back then. Would this not have been more contemporaneously "arse-hole"?
Perhaps someone from the 70's might care to ellucidate?
