Lack of free previews...

Re: Lack of free previews...
I see what you are both saying, Alythonian and Beate, and why the Unlimited membership would work in the circumstances you suggest. I think I must be unfortunate in that my nearest Cineworld seems to show very few art-house or foreign language films and not even much Bollywood-wise these days, despite the large potential audience locally. (Very distant locations such as Feltham and Ilford fare much better in that respect.)
Also - though this must happen elsewhere too - despite my local Cineworld having 15 screens, it has taken to showing the same film in 2 or 3 at once, limiting the choice further. Add to that the increasing number of filmed plays and operas and the options become very limited indeed.
As for price, yes, if you compare membership to one-off payments at peak rates, again it makes sense. But being thrifty (or just plain mean!), I only ever attend the cheapest performances when I do p*y for Cineworld, i.e. when it's not for a free preview and I haven't managed to earn a Clubcard voucher. Which isn't too often. Even in London I wouldn't p*y the equivalent of peak Multiplex prices and am still mystified about who can afford these.

Yup almost six so about to get up. Definitely not roaming around Orlando just now.
As for parking in cineworld Glasgow use townhead during the day or even get the subway park and ride. Or wait till the evening showings and park for free

Re: Lack of free previews...
Showcase is only 5 minutes from my house so would love if they did a similar card to Cineworld. I do have their Insider card which means I can see a film for £6 from 7pm Sunday through to Tuesday evening.
The only reason I would consider a Cineworld Unlimited card or any other card is that we are not getting many free previews in Glasgow.
There are so many films I would love to see but p*ying, even the cheapest possible ticket price, means p*ying 3 films would cover the cost of an Unlimited card for a month which would give me a huge choice of films for which there are no free previews in Glasgow. I would not have considered this last year as we did get a reasonable number of free films ie I saw 86 free films and couldn't go to a few others. This year is not looking good!

January and February is always quiet when it comes to cinema releases. More than likely find that things pick up in the spring when we head into the blockbuster season.

Gosh, I hope this isn't a fiendish plot (cinema chains in league with film promoters) to get people hooked on free previews, then reduce or cut off the supply abruptly in the hope that they will sign up for memberships instead! (Doesn't succeed with me - I just moan about it!)McG wrote: The only reason I would consider a Cineworld Unlimited card or any other card is that we are not getting many free previews in Glasgow.

Re: Lack of free previews...
Not if your local doesn't get the film on release.
I will too especially if the list of cinemas showing the preview is very limited indicating that few cinemas will get it on release.Ms Thrifty wrote:But unless you had a nearby alternative or free travel (e.g. with season ticket), surely it would not make economic sense to spend time and money travelling further for a free film? You might as well wait for the release, then p*y to see it locally.
Thursday is another favourite day for previews or used to be.sandypiper wrote:If I wanted to see a particular film before release, and had read favourable reviews, and a ticket, I would travel to see it.
