I sat near the front at the Mayfair Hotel. I thought the film started quite badly and relied on cheap shocks involving the wolves but picked itself up a little towards the end. Very interesting to see some existential questions thrown in the mix. Still, I didn't care much for it. 5/10

Tut tut Beate, coming in late! I waved to you but didn't think you'd like it near the front.

Sorry, I didn't see you, and OH was hellbent on sitting at the back so even though I saw some empty seats in the second front row, we headed to the back.

I missed this yesterday as I also had tickets for Odeon Greenwich and as Beate says they didn't have the film. Pleased to say they were handing out guest passes without much fuss at all (rare for Odeon Greenwich!), which meant most people were happy.

We did hang around a bit, contemplating whether we should use our guest passes to watch something there and then to save our wasted journey. It ended up working in our favour. Someone spoke to a manager and he kindly agreed to allow us to choose another film to watch there and then and keep our guest passes. Result! A small but sizeable group of us (maybe 20 or so people, could have been more) then chose something else.

Beate, you were probably well on your way to Mayfair by the time the manager allowed this but wish I could have let you know about this option in case it was of interest. Have to say, Mayfair is a much nicer venue that Greenwich in any case!

I was looking forward to seeing The Grey but not sure I will use my voucher for to see it when released.

The marketing for this film is very misleading, I just watched the trailer again and one of the best scenes it is not even in the movie (Liam running to attack with cut glass armed fists and a knife). And it happens to be a scene we most want to see! One of the posters too has this scene thats cut:

Its still a great film to me but its not a great action movie as the marketing suggests. We should have a poll for worst marketed movie of the year. The Last Exorcism was another example.
My film reviews here . ......My FMUK 2014 ratings.......My FMUK 2011 ratings.......My FMUK 2013 ratings . ......My FMUK 2012 ratings .

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

What did you go and see? Have to admit I checked out the Odeon listing later and there was nothing I hadn't seen yet or was interesting to me.

^^Despite the bad reviews on here, we went for Haywire   Thought it was worth the free throw of the dice to see what it was like, the trailer did make it look good! You are right that there weren't many options though - unless you were willing to wait until the next round of films at about 8pm.

Ushers! They don't go in for them. There's just the Telegraph guy outside collecting the tickets, but if he'd gone when you got there he obviously doesn't hang around. Did see you sneaking in by the way, but then I was expecting you.
Beate wrote:And I wasn't happy about all the noisy wrinklies around us.
Yes we did have a very noisy row this time, the phone and wrappers were a pain. I can't say it is usually that bad though and we must have been too far away to be affected by the commentators or the startled.
milkchocmonkey wrote:I must be the only person that really didn’t enjoy the movie.
No you weren't. I've got used to defending films recently having seen a lot more good in them than most seemed to have done. But congratulations to those that did in this because it went straight past me.

No, you're not.
milkchocmonkey wrote:I was sitting behind you
Didn't notice you! And I must have been practically talking over you when talking to ejwrank beforehand as we were behind in the row Beate and OH sneaked into.

If there ever was a worse name for a film, it must be "The Grey" and showing the film in the middle of winter!

Saw this last night, (the screening after me, was sold out!) I actually really enjoyed it!
Loved(sort of) seeing how a wolf pack functions, loved the stand off, shame we didnt get to see what happened but I suppose with that poem(or whatever that thing was) you get an idea of what went down.

8/10!
