Re: Edge of Tomorrow
Whether it was borrowed or stolen isn't particularly relevant from my perspective, what is relevant is the moment in time that he took it i.e the mimic or Omega should still have the ability up to the point that it's taken from them.steve9872 wrote:
The point is he didn't borrow the time travel capability, he stole it. That's how I see it so the only way I can really accept the logistics of the ending is to view the ability as something other than time travel, with it's own set of rules that enables the film makers to a) finish with an upbeat ending & b) make a sequel with both lead actors

Borrowed means a journey into the past, once done, only happens once as the mimic keeps its power
Stolen means you can repeat your journeys into the past, however only one instance of the power can exist at any one time so the mimic no longer has the power anymore from the moment you wake up. You not only steal its power, but also its history.
Re: Edge of Tomorrow
The ending is fine
Cruise mounts a surprise attack prior to the beach landing so the reset occurs further back in time
it's how it happens that's the problem
he should have been swallowed whole, then we see the grenade pins and splosion. I think we'd have been more accepting that anything goes in that scenario than just dropping the explosives in and then being enveloped by a dead creature?
A pretty good 'popcorn film' with good special effects and reasonably good story. Nice to see it set in London. 7.5/10.
