I still think you have to see the film in a cinema for it to count.

I accept that the big screen experience is different, which is why I've not included them in my count so far... :-)

Cortone - Nah I'm not including it as free films for this year since 1) I was too late in joining the club 2) They're all old - none were new films lolz

You've just reminded me but all I watched on the plane were Coraline (I missed this free screening and so I was happy it was aired and I enjoyed it eventhough I knew what was going to happen!), Return to Witch Mountain (or whatever crap it was - sorry I fell asleep lolz) and others I've forgot what I've watched.....

I've gone straight back to work so I've been really busy trying to get back to my routine since coming back from Cuba but I will try to make a Cuba Holiday Thread about it soon!

If I have the right to comment  , I agree with Beate that it makes sense for free screening to count when seen at the cinemas

How often am I going to sit through Grease? It's on now, and I am trying not to sing along. There are certain films, which, if there is little else on the box, I find the other half watching. This is one of them, along with The Sound of Music. He never watches the whole film, you understand - just the end until something else comes on. Any second now we'll be watching the cricket....

I watched the next two films on Film 4 (after Grease) - The Truth About Cats & Dogs (Janeane Garofalo, Uma Thurman and Ben Chaplin - and various animals!) and Behind Enemy Lines (Owen Wilson and Gene Hackman). Both are rated about 6.1 or 6.2 on IMDB, but I quite liked them - especially the rom com (Cats and Dogs).

I was working while these were on, so missed some of the info on the 'real' people at the heart of Behind Enemy Lines. It does make you wonder about what really goes on in war zones..

I watched 'The Kingdom' last night, and found it very violent, confusing and attempting to do too much in 110 minutes.
The opening scenes of carnage were horrific, when terrorists were gunning down women and children inside a housing compound for Westerners, specifically American families. Throw in a terrorist bomb, and a crack top-secret FBI team and extreme prejudice and the film takes off on a rollercoaster of death and mutilation.
Led by Jamie Foxx, and supported largely by a cast unknown to me, the team have 5 days to gain the trust of the Saudi Police and stop a bomber hellbent on further death and distruction.
If you have any political views about terrorism and how the US go about avenging needless deaths of their citizens, do not watch this film. If you look too deeply into the politics behind the making of the film, you won't like it - remember this film came out a few years after the September 11 attacks.

If you like a good action film with a half-decent plot, and plenty of action sequences, then watch it.

Producer: Michael Mann, Peter Berg, Scott Stuber

Cast: Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Chris Cooper, Jeremy Piven, Danny Huston, Richard Jenkins

I watched the Kingdom on DVD some time ago, and also watched the 'extras'. I remember thinking that the film would have been much different if some of those scenes had been in maybe even this was in an audio commentary). It was like an extended non-stop action version of 24.

BTW - I was also fascinated about the planning of the action scenes.

Funnily enough though, mentioning this film reminded me of one thing that I thought was a bit off in the Behind Enemy Lines films. I was noticing the number of people being shot - on both sides) while recovering the soldier, and I suspect that was why the real-life Gene Hackman character was disciplined (but I may be wrong, as I missed some of the info that was on the screen).

I'm very grateful that this type of situation is very far from my life.

I didn't like the Kingdom - the politics were far over-simplified.

Juno – an interesting, quirky teenage pregnancy comedy. All the lead actors were excellent, but Ellen Page’s performance as Juno MacGuff is outstanding. Jennifer Garner’s character came over as slightly neurotic and eager adoptive mother-to-be, but I warmed to her. The storyline was great, and the soundtrack was awesome. There were no dull moments at all - it was a pleasure to watch. 8/10 :D
