Re: Paul
This was brilliant. Much better than I expected because I was never a fan of Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the dead and I was expecting paul to be similar.
Fortunately it wasn't. It was hysterical, Paul the alien was a great creation - love his personality. I'd recommend this to everyone!

Re: Paul
I saw this wednesday night. The alien was very funny although some of the jokes were repeated a bit. Seth Rogan was a good choice for Paul’s voice and the special effects were done well. I didn't like it as much as Shawn of the Dead but it was quite good 7/10

Re: Paul
this is actually silly fun but not amazing, its dumb fun but not in the slapstick sense, theres room for some brit humour too. Thankfully some decent effects too. Have a drink before you go in, and it will go down better.

Re: Paul
I really like films by Simon Pegg but I thought perhaps he had run out of steam and that I would not like this film as much....WELL, In this instance I'm very happy to say how wrong I was. I laughed out loud through most of the film and I left the theatre feeling very happy and thoroughly entertained. I would recommend this film to anyone with a sense of humour.
Anyone without a sense of humour should go and watch this film and you never know, you may find one!

Re: Paul
I really enjoyed this.
I was a bit worried as I'd read a few luke warm reviews, but felt it really delivered. I'm a big fan of Frost and Pegg and thought their Britishness just about held it's own against the big budget sci-fi road movie.
In interviews they'd said there had been a few compromises due to the budget involved, but this a lot better than your average Hollywood comedy road movie.
Also liked all the nods to other films, but never felt they overwhelmed the movie and were just for the sake of it like I did with Rango.

Re: Paul
The folks organising the Father's Day screening must have heard you! An hour drinks reception beforehand feels a bit excessive though, all it does is send people to the toilet every 5 minutes after that, like at the Green Lantern screening where they handed out free Budweiser.raj101 wrote:Have a drink before you go in, and it will go down better.
So if the travel situation allows it, I should be seeing bevvy, cliveas and June tonight, but I guess we will only get there for 7.30pm so please keep seats if they let you in earlier. At least they are not expecting the tube strike to hit too hard: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/n ... 20302.aspx

Re: Paul
We thorougly enjoyed this. Nice drinks reception beforehand with plenty of different drinks on offer. It was lovely to see bevvy + OH, cliveas and June, and the screening room was as lush as I remembered.
We liked the film a lot, it was very funny and quirky, and even managed to have a dig at creationists along the line (not sure Sarah Palin would approve!). I probably didn't get half the sci-fi references, but sniggered at Sigourney Weaver's appearance, and belly-laughed at other moments. The alien was brilliant! Also nice to see Jane Lynch in a non-Glee role.
There were no goody bags but apparently signed posters will be sent out by post to the ones who won via Magic at least.
9/10 (including points for the screening room).

It was lovely to see you all and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I've seen Paul before, however I enjoyed it almost as much the second time around, especially with the free barBeate wrote:We thorougly enjoyed this. Great acting from all of the cast, especially funny performances from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jane Lynch and Kristen Wiig who also plays a lead role in Bridesmaids, which I'm hoping to see in it's entirety at some point this week...that is as long as there are no more fire evacuations at the cinema!
