Could you perhaps take him aside at the start and say you know how understanding he is and that you and your bf need some time together - just the two of you, to talk something over? Assuming you had any chance of doing so at this event? Or maybe play it the other way round and say you two don't want to crowd your cousin on his date and ignore any protestations on his part?

Made it past the telephone interview and now have a face-to-face next Thursday at 5pm!!!!!

You could try being a bit crafty and say you have a cold or something and don't want to pass the germs on to them.
