Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Finally saw Our Boys at the Duchess Theatre last night - which was well worth the wait. It was brilliant, with an hilarious, lough-out-loud funny first half and a poignant second one. All the actors were really good (especially Cian Barry, Lewis Reeves, Matthew Lewis & Laurence Fox), particularly at depicting their various disabilities and inner struggles. 9/10
Would recommend this to everyone, though it closes on December 15, so be quick!

I'm still hoping to catch this - was seeing something else last night and hadn't realised the run ended so soon, so thank you for the info, c_t.
Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Couldn't agree more about 'Our Boys' - it is excellent. Can't understand anyone giving 'Long Live the Mad Parade' 4 stars, it had some funny lines but was mainly plain silly. It's a shame because there is actually a very interesting idea in there somewhere. But then I don't expect people on here to necessarily agree with me these days, I thought Uncle Vanya was really very good!

Ah, but which Uncle Vanya, cliveas?! I hear the Print Room's version was considered to be the best. I didn't see it...

Good question, but I only saw the version at the Vaudeville with Ken Stott.Ms Thrifty wrote:Ah, but which Uncle Vanya, cliveas?! I hear the Print Room's version was considered to be the best. I didn't see it...

I thought the production was good as well, the problem is it's just such a hard play to like.cliveas wrote:Good question, but I only saw the version at the Vaudeville with Ken Stott.
I'm sure someone here walked out in the interval, which I really didn't understand. It may not have been to everyone's taste, but it certainly wasn't the sort of production that deserved that reaction.

One of the worst theatre shows I've seen this year (out of many). I guess tastes just differ, which is a good thing :)

My worst show was Damned by Despair. By far. It's much more difficult to say what the best one was - possibly the Lion King, even though those were the worst seats I've had. Just a really good production. Or maybe Duchess of Malfi? Ack, that's a difficult one.canadian_turtle wrote:*raises hand*

Tastes differing is a good thing - it means we won't all be trying to grab the same free tickets!

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I said "one of the worst" as I also really didn't like the Duchess of Malfi, haha!
Best ones this year: Rock of Ages, Top Hat, Noises Off, The King's Speech, Ghost the musical, Singing in the Rain, Loserville and most recently, Our Boys.
