Re: The Diary Room
Awww thanks raj101.
The only thing I do hate about driving is the asshole drivers & motorcyclists you get on the road! Sometimes I feel like I'm driving in Cairo!

Re: The Diary Room
lol Cairo!
there are houses next to mine with 3 or even 4 cars in the driveway, when they have two bus stops and two train stations fifty yards away....why?? there so many wasteful people here in Surrey, its ironic with all the well organised rcycling collections in every street.
i dont know why, i mean totally it escapes me why people dont use it more often.valda wrote:I gave up my car years ago. I couldn't park anywhere near my house but had to b*y a permit. I couldn't park where ever I went, not could I drink. As I'm very well served by public transport, I decided to save my money instead

Re: The Diary Room
OH has received a court summons yesterday, for driving while on a hand-held mobile phone. This happened in October and he pa*d the fine promptly but overlooked and forgot the part about handing the driving licence in within 7 days so points can be added. I can't get through to Citizens Advice but have formulated a letter with his memory loss as defence - not sure how much good it will do on the day. What a nightmare.

Sorry to hear that Beate, poor you (and OH). If you could get a medical note or something from the Doctor, I think that would help his defence.

Re: The Diary Room
i can't do without my car, i love it. i love driving. i too live near a train station and buses, but neither of those come to me when i want them, neither of them stop me getting soaking wet waiting for them and neither of them allow me to sing at the top of my lungs whilst listening to my ipod! aslo neither of them guarantee me somewhere comfy to sit and somewhere to put all my bags of shopping, or indeed my 2 cats should i need to take them out.
i hate public transport, it's the reason i learned to drive in the 1st place. i drive all over the place to see bands and friends, much cheaper in the long run than trains, and quicker than buses.
if you don't need a car then sure i can see a reason not to have one, but i use mine often! at least 80% of the time i go out in fact.
my insurance went up by £40. and you've just reminded me i have a free £10 tesco gift voucher somewhere "safe" from my insurance.

Re: The Diary Room
There is a myth that if you get a parking ticket while waiting to see your GP then a doctor's letter can get you off the hook. I don't think this applies if caught using the phone while driving.
