Hi Folks,

Baty - that sucks getting Kidney failure when trying to diet :( I'm glad your better now :)

I've had a fun afternoon. While getting ready to head to the gym I knelt down to tie my lace and felt a ping at the bottom of my spine (where I had previously hurt my back - flares up now and again). I thought - I'll take it easy and all will be fine. On the bus I stretched forward to press the bell and it felt like someone karate kicked me in the lower back - Ouch. I hobbled off the bus and stood supporting against the back of a bench for going on 20 mins until the pain subsided and I could walk again. I went to the gym and had a coffee thinking my back my ping back to normal which occasionally happens - unfortunately it didn't. So, thinking about getting home I decided not to take the bus with all the jolting that occurs and walked the approx 2 miles (max) - it took me 1 1/4 hours :( I got here at last. Now sat with a hot cuppa.

It looks like my exercise maybe out the window for this week now :( weight gain here I come :) lol :) I was thinking I could go walking - very slowly but at least it might be some exercise which may help. As I think just sitting around could be worse as I continually jolt around when moving back forward up and down - where walking - I'm up and moving gingerly as not to jolt myself - What do people think?

My first walk could be to J Lewis in the centre of town - where as you all know - free tea and cake :) :)

I hope everybody else has had/is having a good/great/fabulous day :) :) :)

Hi folks again.....

Just found a handy free guide for Kindle....(free today I don't know about tomorrow)- on amazon.co.uk (incase any body didn't know) you can also download a free kindle program for your PC/Laptop/don't know about Mac's sorry.

'The Cholesterol Solution Guide'

- gives great tips on how to naturally reduce your cholesterol 'naturally' in 30 days - no medications - just through specific food types. I thought it maybe handy to someone. I just got a copy to see as that is something that is always niggling away at the back of my mind - being a cheese lover doesn't help :-)

Baty as I went on my walk today I decided to walk to John Lewis and find out for you. They do the http://www.honeybuns.co.uk cake range which is included in the deal :cheer: - the almond moon one would be the one I would choose. In Trafford Centre they had a selection of layered shortbreads, brownies, cakes and flapjacks. They are next to the till not with the cakes.

Wow, Diane -- above and beyond the call of duty and hope that Baty enjoys a gluten free treat in John Lewis. When it comes to cakes, you take the biscuit!
Ha ha you are hilarious but it was my duty to deal with such an important matter!!

Stone_monkey I'm so sorry re your back and what a very slow and painful walk you have had. I really don't know what to suggest re your back as depending on what you have done if you do the wrong thing ie either rest or exercise you could make it worse but as you have probably realised I am a cake eating expert and all John Lewis cakes are good for back injuries. Take care.

Thanks folks - cakes must help - I went and got some Empire biscuits earlier and my back feels much better now :-) My big bro thought it was probably a trapped nerve and I thought it might be a slippery disc popping in and out - I was supposed to go to the doc's today being Tuesday but at this moment the pain has disappeared - sometimes I think I must imagine it, lol. But standing in the street close to tears thinking I would collapse if I tried to move the other day seemed pretty real. Anyway hopefully its going going gone and in a few days I'll start to exercise again if it has gone. In the mean time I am going to go for slow daily walks as I jerk my back less walking than I do bimbling around doing anything else. So, maybe no weight gain this week after all :-) :-) Good luck to everyone else this week. :-) :-) :-)

I'm back for more blabbing :P

No pain today I just feel a tiny bit heat in the area :D Spoke to my GP and she came to the conclusion it was a slipped disc and the mass of pain was muscle spasms surrounding the location. As there is no longer any pain she says its slipped back into place again so the spasming will stop - no pain :D
I was referred to a physio who gave me a home help link with info on sorting the problem and strengthening the area - so in future it should happen less or not at all :D

So tomorrow a wee walk at some point and a swim again at some point - and for the rest of the week then normal exercising schedule resumes o/

So, I'll be doing my 10k event on 2/3/14, then my others the two months following _0^ _0^

Hope everyone else has had as good parts to their day or as good news o/ :D o/ :D o/ :D

Hey ho everyone.....

Just thought I'd do a midweek weigh-in as I have not exercised - indication show 1kg up - ooops. But I started some light exercise after that :-)

I did a light 30 min 4.25km run on the treadmill followed by a 1.3km swim at a very slow pace - great results - nooooooo pain at all - yippee. So, thats my base for the rest of the week then back on the weights and core work next week....

Should be tea and cake day tomorrow (friday) at J Lewis - way hey......

Enjoy your cake, we're away to York for the weekend. It'll be nice to be 'public' rather than part of the Viking Festival. We have first class from Edinburgh to York so will be having cake and gin!!

Gym yesterday was hard but I did it, still doing the light weights and my husband says he can see a slight difference already in my upper body so pretty happy with that. Diet wise not so bad but could be better! Gym again today as no chance of doing anything other than walking this weekend.

Have a good day everyone!!
