Anyone have experience of the Balcony at the Palace Theatre balcony? There are some preview tickets for The Commitments for just £6-50, I understand from Theatre Monkey they are very high, steep and cramped, but I'm not that big, so more worried about what the actual view of the stage is like?

Sat there once and they were the highest, most steepest seats I've ever been in (even worse than the Theatre Royal Drury Lane). It was so high I was barely able to see what happened on stage. I'd advise to opt for top price or second price instead as they're also half price during previews and only around £20/£25.

Do not sit in the balcony at the Palace! It is very high up with a railing that blocks view. As a result everyone usually leans forward which makes it incredibly difficult to see.

I have sat there, but it so long ago. Check out seating plans and opinions on www.theatremonkey.comRainey wrote:Thanks, I knew you'd know!canadian_turtle wrote:Sat there once and they were the highest, most steepest seats I've ever been in (even worse than the Theatre Royal Drury Lane). I already did thanks, was just looking to see if at just £6.50 the seats were a bargain or just too awful to enjoy the show.

Sorry, should have read your original posting!! From my memory the balcony feels from the rear seating very distant from the stage. Maybe be better at the front.Rainey wrote:I already did thanks, was just looking to see if at just £6.50 the seats were a bargain or just too awful to enjoy the show.
Always good to google for images. I got two for you.

Thanks, I was thinking if they weren't that bad I would treat a few people, but I think it will be more enjoyable to each p*y for our own better seats.mupton wrote:Sorry, should have read your original posting!! If you want to see a great show for hardly any money go and see The Play That Goes Wrong at Trafalgar Studios. It's by far the funniest show I have seen in a long time and tickets are from £15 or £10 on Lastminute. Only seats about 100 so doesn't matter where you sit and it's only hour so you can have a meal before or after. Finishes next week so go and see while you can. I've seen twice now and am thinking of going again.
