i got my mum & auntie & uncle some tix for The West End Men at The Vaudeville Theatre.......
Now they are stressing about what to wear.....grrrr !
The only time I have been to a london theatre was a few years back to see Al Murray...Jeans & t-shirt were more than fine.
Please give me some guidance that I can pass along. "casual" would be my guess...but i'm only guessing...

The only time I've seen people 'dressed' for the Theatre was at 'The Sunshine Boys' which was playing at the Savoy Hotel. And I'm guessing these older people were guests at the Hotel.

Folly Mixtures put on a fun show tonight, although I thought the tattooed goofball Zombie Boy was a tad boring and pointless, I'd rather have seen a few more burlesque acts or whatever. It's only 90 minutes long including the interval (during which if you're lucky you might get a sick bag filled with gummy worms from one of the "suicidal stage hands"), and features some good music (Ozzy/Joan Jett/Alice Cooper, etc) and a very impressive fire-breathing girl (I forget her name...). Worth seeing if more tickets become available, although I'd go and see Folly Mixtures do their own show first. 8/10

So yeah, go for a Rod Stewart football shirt!
newdot, there is no dress code in the theatre. Only American tourists dress up for it. You seriously can come in just about anything.

Beate is right. For instance, a couple of days ago, I saw a guy wearing flip flops, a sweatshirt and shorts in the Harold Pinter theatre.Beate wrote:For old time's sake: http://www.fmuk.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... art#p46382yogi wrote:Outfit doesn't matter as long as you wear it well!r33ceh wrote:Darn i cant find my leopard print pants or tartan scarf for the rod gig......what to wear, what to wear????

Did anyone see Blind Date at Charing X Theatre last night? Curious as to how it was.
Tonight was entertaining, mainly due to the choice of blind date from the audience. Seems like a show that lives or dies by its guests!
FYI, 90 minutes straight through, unallocated seating.
Solid 3 out of 5 for me.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
mm yeah it cant have been improv.
if it had been totally improv it would have been brilliant, but it wasn't. NO way she picked that guy at random to chat to beforehand upstairs. They knew each other ages ago. Lots of funny moments but a lot of tedium too, fortunately lots of drunk people who laugh at anything. The female performer works hard and well to carry the show.
I am glad it wasn't a scripted play though.
So if it was improv then 10/10, genius.
but it really wasn't, I am almost 99% sure, so 7/10, mixed bag of fun and tedium.

My mum and her friend went to West End Men tonight and they absolutely loved it, had seats in the second row of the stalls, which pleased them even more. She looked up some reviews before she went and wasn't sure about going because they weren't that great but were very glad they made the effort.
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I cannot see West End Men last much longer despite a majority of the people on this board who've seen it enjoying the show, considering they continue to paper the show and every day top prices seats are discounted to less than half price (£18) at TKTS.
• Cinemas in order of preference: West End/Central London, Wood Green, Islington, Finchley Road
