Understandable because there are no action sequences or anything. Its too early in post production for a full blown trailer. Its just a teaser to give us the atmospheric feel of the Hobbit. I know deep down the Hobbit will not top LOTR but I hope it will be as enjoyable as the book was.

Currently reading the book at the moment, it's not bad. I'm sure the movie will be better though, and it's convinced me to give the LOTR books another try.

The Hobbit has alway been my favourite Tolkien book and I read it before I even knew about the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's a very straightforward adventure story with hobbits, orks, elfs, dwarfs, a dragon, a wizard, bears and eagles galore. And a great riddle-off with Gollum. I hope I can find it in my old room at home in Germany, I'd like to read it again before the film comes out.

yeah I read The Hobbit when I was about 10 and only moved on to The Lord of the Rings a couple of years later. The Hobbit was more of a childrens story in that it didn't get as dark & evil as LOTR... from what I can remember as it's a very long time ago. :shifty:

I'm not sure whether to re-read it before the film becasue I re-read LOTR before the films but then you tends to notice all the omissions and changes.

That riddle contest with Gollum is one of my favourite chapters in any children's novel!

I am curious as to how they will film this book because it is very much a different book in tone, its a children's fable and not as epic (though pretty epic and even dark for a children's novel) as LOTR. But hey, its Peter Jackson at the helm and largely the same crew involved, so I guess they know what their doing and probably fusing stuff from the LOTR appendices and Salmarillion.
