Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
Saw this at Odeon Covent Garden and we went inside without them even glancing at the tickets.
I'm surprised to say that I thought that the movie was very enjoyable. I normally cannot stand Jim Carrey and his over the top form of acting but it was overall quite toned down in this one so he didn't bother me as much as he does normally. While some of the storyline was very unrealistic (I'm not talking about the unusually cute/cuddly/friendly penguins, as that's the whole premise of the movie, but other smaller parts of the storyline) I thought it was a great fun family movie. 7/10

I don't know why I thought this was going to be a talking animal film!

Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
I actually expected this too but I was glad that wasn't the case, I think it worked a lot better this way.

Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
Saw this at a packed Westerhailes, Edinburgh. Loads of kids who all laughed at the penguins antics. Good family viewing with no violence or swearing. 7/10

Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
Saw this at a 60% full Odeon Switch Island, it was shown in one the smallest rooms too, so quite a poor turnout really. Which is a shame 'cos I know several Liverpool fmukers had been seeking tickets to this.
I'm not a huge Jim Carey fan but his antics with the penguins made me laugh today. I agree that this is the ideal family film, both adults and kids alike were laughing, and I heard several youngsters asking if they could have a penguin. I thought that the cgi penguins were really well integrated with the real penguins, so much so that I found myself watching some of the scenes really closely to try tell them apart.
An enjoyable film 8/10

Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
I went to see this at a 70% full Odeon in Milton Keynes, and like others enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
Lovely to hear the Kids laughing at the antics of the Penguins.
The scene where the bathroom was flooded, I thought was very funny.
I offered the page from the Daily Mail, but was told to keep it.

A good fun family movie, but suprisingly Uxbridge was only about 70% full. 7.5/10

Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
Praise everyone this was at least 95% better than the dire trailer! If I had kids and had seen the trailer and they'd wanted to go (to a p*ying screening) based on the trailer i would not have gone.
Well, it was much better than the trailer and I quite enjoyed it other than Jim Carey pulling "Jim Carey" silly faces at the end!
Edinburgh was 99.9% full this morning ad it was a lovely day here.
If you have kids aged 5-8 they'll love it! Or elderly relatives likewise!

Re: Mr Popper's Penguins
Saw this in Norwich this morning. I thought a nice family orientated film but would have been better as a Christmas holiday film rather than one for the summer break.
A gentle reminder for everyone there this morning that talked through the film, talked on their mobile phone, ate pop corn loudly, munched away and rustled their paper nose bags to such an extent it was difficult to hear the film on occasions - that just because it's free doesn’t mean that you need to behave in such a disrespectful way.
