Re: Real Steel
Saw this at a less than half full Odeon on Holloway Rd (not surprising of course - when will we next be able to sunbathe in October?)
Great fun and really entertaining actually. Adults and kids should take something away from it. The action scenes were pretty awesome - it had far more bang for your buck than something like Warrior, even though the latter had humans fighting. On a thematic level, it nicely covered the "fighting for what you believe in" side, putting in the hard work and graft instead of finding shortcuts and the easy way out.

Re: Real Steel
I just got back from seeing this movie at Glasgow Quay. The cinema was full, but it was a much smaller screening room than normal.
I almost didn't go to see this as robots fighting are not really my thing, but I have to admit that I (much to my surprise) actually quite enjoyed it! Very predictable storyline, but good acting especially by the kid and Atom! The main male actor was very similar in looks and attitude to the Mel Gibson Lethal Weapon character. Found myself actually rooting for the robot in the fight scenes. It is a good family movie, kids and adults of all ages there today and most seemed to enjoy it. Would hope that the name of the movie and the advertising for it doesn't put people of going to see it, with or without their kids, as it nearly did with me. A good way to pass a couple of hours on a lazy Sunday.

Re: Real Steel
Well, the screening at Odeon Surrey Quays was a complete fiasco. We were told there were some technical problems but they were aiming to start before 11. When 11 came then we were told it would be another 10 minutes. At 11.35 we were still waiting and when I finally lost my patience and went to ask what on earth was happening with the film I was told they were working on the problem but no guarantee when it would start. So we left as I could not bear wasting another minute in that place.
By the way, the seats there were the filthiest I have ever seen in a cinema!
