Here's my review. I don't know if it's very good but I thought you might like to read it.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Hmmmm, might give that a miss then as while i thought Iron Lady was good, it wasn't great.
Well acted by Meryl Streep but not a 'great' film...

Good acting as always from Meryl Streep, I enjoyed the film thoroughly, may want to watch it again once release in Jan 2012.

Lucky enough to get tickets to this at Manchester Town Hall tomorrow, where some of it was filmed.

Really excited about the film and the event and I believe there's free food and drinks beforehand, probably not milk though..... ;)

Me too now and thanks so much for letting akh43 and myself be your plus two. We both really appreciate it.

Just watched this at Manchester Town Hall courtesy of yogi. What an amazing night we had, we arrived at the back entrance to the Town Hall and were filmed as we were guided along the corridors and up the magnificent staircase which was beautifully decorated for Christmas where we were greeted with a selection of drinks wine, beer, orange juice or water. The food was delicious and substantial portions (unlike Jane Eyre when we had a chipolata as a toad in the hole with one potato) I had vegetable chilli and rice, there was also chicken goujons with chips, sausage and mash or leek and potato bake on offer. We then took our popcorn ready to be seated in very comfortable seats in the main hall to watch the film which was brilliant one of my favourite films of the year. Meryl Streep was wonderful as too was the actress who played the young Margaret and Jim Broadbent was as brilliant as ever always bringing a warmth to his characters.
After the film there was more drinks and we were shown stills of the film and two outfits the blue pleated suit and the evening gown (the one where she was having the button sewn onto it) which was very pretty almost like a negligee (akh43's description not mine but very true).
All in all a lovely evening and thanks once again to yogi for inviting us o/

What a wonderful screening at Manchester Town Hall tonight, the whole event felt very special.

Nice greeting and drinks on arrival, followed by choice of food, a few words and then the film itself. Then afterwards another drink and some lovely production stills and notes to peruse and two of the costumes from the film, all in the grand Town Hall setting or Houses of Parliament as it was for the night.

My first VW screening, such a great idea, hope I get to another next year.

I enjoyed the film as Meryl Streep is just mesmerising and Jim Broadbent is wonderful as ever. There was a bit too much old Thatcher for me and it does the biopic thing of ticking off major events cherry picked from history, but I guess that's the nature of the beast. It's certainly more coherent than W, which someone mentioned and is never less than engrossing.

On top of that it was great to see diane65 again and meet akh43 for the first time.

Thanks to superhero for the tickets and to everyone who posted comps for this so I could get an extra pair.
And if nothing else it had the wonderful line about 'I wouldn't speak to my gamekeeper like that' Brilliant. :D
I cant really say much more than Diane's well worded review, had a great night, great food and what a fantastic venue, despite living in manchester all my life I have never been in the Town Hall before what a spectacular place, and a great film to top it off. I would definitely recommend this film.

Thanks to yogi for the tickets (nice to put a face to another name on here), who I met for the first time and Diane for the invite, much appreciated.
