Harmless fun for a Sunday morning. Would have enjoyed more dancing cos that was really energetic and fun.

Just realised that was my 50th free film, quite an achievement for me and really all thanks to FMUK!

What an absolute pile of cr*p! They ruined a perfectly good film along with the few songs they kept (but altered). The most interesting thing to happen during the film was a woman get up and have a stand up row with some rowdy teenagers sitting in the front row who did nothing but mess around and giggle (loudly) from the minute they arrived!

The bit's they changed were the bits that made the original story work and make sense, the bit's they kept were the gimmicks, they lost most of the dance scenes and what they did have were not very good, nor showed the emotion portrayed in the original, it did show how damn good Kevin Bacon can dance in the original though.

2/10
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

Got to Bridgend Odeon early to get a good seat, as some of the screens have strange seating layouts. Wouldn't you believe it, A party of people turned up and sat down only to get up and move to my row. 'Would you mind moving?' My answer, 'I came early to sit here and no, I do not want to move'. After a look of daggers from one of the mums I really dug into my seat. There were plenty of seats availble else where in the cinema and to my relief/annoyence the kids began to climb over the back of the seats and into the empty row behind. Having had a not so good week in work I could withstand withering looks from the general public - having put up with the same from students/managers all week.

Anyway back to the film - I have fond memories of the original and sadly this remake came nowhere near. There were 'toe tapping' sections when the music was on but it didn't have the same enjoyment level as the Kevin Bacon version. Kevin looked like an out of towner, sorry but the new kid just didn't cut it.

3/10

I really enjoyed the movie. I wasn't expecting much tbh, but pleasently surprised. It is true to the origional with a bit of dirty dancing thrown in. Yes the origional is fantastic! but, this remake will appeal more to the younger generation, I would gladly go watch it again. The updated music and containing covers of the old music worked well. I loved Miles Teller thought he was fab as was Ray McKinnon who I have enjoyed watching for many years. I kind of got confussed with the upto date tec then the rest being old. 8.5/10

This was well enough done with a silly story to work from. Soem good performances from the uncle and the best friend.

Still think Kevin Bacon could dance him under the table though??!!

6/10 for beeing cheery! Edinburgh was full this morning. I think everyone and their granny will have seen this before it opens given the number of free screenings though!
Damn! I forgot Granny. Knew there was something missing. Lol.
This granny (but not old enough to be your granny, stuartboy ;) ) saw this on Thursday night but wasn't that impressed with it even though I had never seen the original. 5/10 from me although my friend thought it was great.

The original is on Film4 at 18:55-21:00 today if anyones interested. Caught the preview last week, it was a fairly decent entertaining film, some cringeworthy moments I would give it a 5.5/10 personally :)

have never watched the original, wouldn't want to as I'm not a K.Bacon fan, but this movie had me smiling all the way through so for that reason alone 8/10, looking forward to watching again..... o/
