I saw it yesterday in Hammersmith Cineworld and used a 3D voucher - was a bit worried they would not accept it but they were cool.

Sat down in a place where I thought I'd be on my own, a couple sat behind me and 40 mins into the film some strange bloke sat behind me as well. Stuck his feet up in the chair infront of him, and I think he went to sleep, and left as the film arrived in Switzerland

So, I really enjoyed this, I can just leave my brain at the door and revel in slo mo, bromance, witty dialogue, preposterous disguises and shetland ponies. o/ The chemistry between RJD and Jude is fantastic (even out of the film they were like little schoolgirls whispering to each other on the Graham Norton show.) As others have commented, the women were not really given anything worthwhile to do. Noomi Rapace seems to be trying to eat as much as Brad Pitt does in a film btw

It's 3D? Please tell me it's not 3D! I have two showings left to choose from tonight and still have shopping to do, so no pressure!

The one I saw was in 2D. I didn't know there was 3D?

I thought the same too, valda. All Noomi Rapace seems to do is eat! I think the film was about Jude and RDJ having fun - they really seem to be. It is such a good film in that sense.

One down. One to go.

I have to agree with previous comments that it can be hard at times to separate the characters in this movie from those in the BBC Benny Cucumberpatch version and indeed the Matrix-esque slow-motion ballet of fighting and bullets flying can become a little annoying as it is so unoriginal now. That said the story was fun, fast-paced and entertaining. No real suprises. This movie definitely delivers.

I liked.

I think 3D vouchers can be used for 2D or 3D. Shame you couldn't save your 3D voucher for a 3D film. ;)

Hm. I thought the first Sherlock Holmes was much better. It was a new concept then to make Sherlock a fighter, rendering him less stuffy, but this time round I wish there had been more detective work and less fights, guns and explosions. I cannot deny that Robert Downey Jr is absolutely delicious as Holmes, and even Jude Law isn't as annoying as always as Watson. But it was an action adventure, not a sleuthing drama, and the women never got a look in. One was killed off at the beginning, one quickly despatched from a moving train, and Noomi Rapace simply didn't get enough to do. Instead Guy Ritchie chose to concentrate on the chemistry between Holmes and Watson, adding half-naked wrestling and Holmes masking up as a woman, to drive the point home. The plot felt nonsensical and cobbled together, with some slo-mo scenes added to fill up time. As for Stephen Fry naked - not only Mrs Watson averted her eyes there. Good golly Ms Molly, was that strictly necessary? Really?

Nevertheless, it had good pace, great acting and some cracking ideas, even though they repeated themselves after a while.

And it was a great screening, with quiet, non-annoying people. I guess we could have sneaked into MI4 afterwards as it was beginning 15 minutes after Holmes ended in the screen next door, but I was too hungry and knackered to care.

7.5/10
