Thank you for your e-mail.

I am sorry to learn of the lighting issues experienced during the Sky Rewards performances that you have attended previously, and also of the seemingly-diminished level of customer service experienced during your visits. I would like to assure you that all of your comments will be addressed with the cinema's management team for internal investigation into any staff-training issues to be rectified as necessary.

As a gesture of goodwill and by way of apology, I would like to offer you a £5 Gift Card - which can be used to go towards, or make in full, purchases of food, drinks and/or tickets inside any Vue cinema - to go towards your next visit to Vue. If you could please reply to this e-mail with your full postal address, I will arrange for this Gift Card to be sent to you as quickly as I can.

Kind Regards,

Paul

I would be happy with £5 gift card, most don't bother to reply so this is definitely a bonus

Well this is the third time in about 6 months that this has happened at Vue Islington but of course they claim they are not responsible. They should give at least a free ticket (so you could see the film again without the lights on!).

I would also complain to SKY as they hire the venue out so would have p*y money to VUE. If enough of you complain constructively then hopefully SKY will take notice and think about using a different venue.

Remember you may not had p*y to see the film but SKY would had pa*d for the screen time and film plus some people will have b*ght things from the kiosk. Films don't make money in the cinema. You be lucky if many of them break even. Kiosk and companies hiring do. Don't let VUE forget that.

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

Maybe this should be the subject for another thread but is that really true? When they're charging upwards of £10 in London just to press a button and project a film surely there's a fair bit of profit margin in that, no?

I suppose it depends on how full the cinema is. When I went to see Tree of Life, with a free voucher, there were only two other people in the screen so that can hardly be profitable but then all the twilight screenings must be raking in the money.

Yes, maybe it does need it's own thread.

Most of the money from ticket sales goes to the studio.

Profits for the cinema come from the concession stands (hence why popcorn and soft drinks are extortionately priced) and the advertisements before films which audiences have to endure long before the trailers start.

Agree that this might be better suited in a new thread.

That is correct

If I am correct cinemas "rent/hire" a film from the film companies. They don't b*y them. Do correct me if I am wrong. There will be a number of factors as to the cost of a reel.
The location of the cinema - is it London or somewhere else?
What film it is - Blockbuster or independent?
Which week - the opening night or second week
Hence why cinemas like plane companies try to turn the film over as quickly as they can to get as much usage out of them. And why different cinemas chain and even same cinemas within a chain have different ticket prices.

Some like Twilight and HP will make some money for the cinema but not much as it you think they would due to the cost of them. Like Funthing29 mentions the profits all come from the kiosk and the advertisements. It is one of the reasons why cinemas like previews in their venues.

I missed that bit so can't comment. Anyway look forward to your review

I didn't take that to mean anything ominous, just that it's not diagnosed straight away or she had an illness that brought it on. I think it would have come up with the counsellor if there was more to it.

I think I am getting very picky with movies
I found the script pretty boring, the cinematography boring as well, some of the post-prod probably a bit rushed (there was actually few bits completely out of sync!!!), the few CGI-packed scenes (the birds "attacking" him in particular) rather bad and the movie was a good 30 minutes too long! the actors were alright though!

The idea of following a schizophrenic during his first "attacks" (dunno if you call them like that?) and actually living them with him was rather interesting, but the whole thing was rather poorly excecuted in my opinion.
I could really have liked it! Damn!
