Does Hey ho actually feature in the film? It's heavily played in the ads, but I really can't remember which part of the film the song is played?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Just the trailer I think.

That's what I thought.... how odd.
I think people who watched the trailer would be really annoyed thinking it's a straight rom-com...

 8-) :P First reunion of Glasgow Fmukers for a while due to holidays and lack of films!
I have to say that I thought the film started well, especially as it was tackling such a sensitive topic as mental health.
I thought that Bradley Cooper was very believable in the role and great to see Robert De Niro continuing to get senior roles.
I had not seen any previews of the film so don't know how it is being "sold" but was a little surprised given the good start to see it become a rom-com by the end. The topic of mental illness just about disappeared . . . because of love or dancing??????
I did enjoy the film but was left a little dissatisfied.

Oops! I meant to say the advertising for it! I was at the preview but I had not seen any trailers or adverts but I do see others have mentioned it as having been presented as a rom-com (which it's not entirely)

I went to see this film at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly Circus with high expectations due to its high rating on IMDB. I think it started well, I was intrigued by what happened and what Bradley Cooper's character's condition was. Thought the acting was pretty good from everyone too and I liked the choice of the main actors; Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro. However, I think in the middle it started being all over the place and it was reduced to just a romantic comedy from the middle to the end of the movie. It felt it was too long for what it was.

yeeeuup the cure for mental illness, dancing, love and jogging. Wish it was that easy lol. Films usually end up implying miracle cures like that.

Saw this last night in Wimbledon. It started as a very dark film about a bi-polar man (Pat) who had just been released from a psychiatric hospital. At one point I kept thinking I was watching a Jerry Springer show - what with everybody overreacting, shouting, screaming and being unnecessarily violent to anyone and anything. It soon became apparent that Pat's actions all stemmed from his violent OCD father (brilliantly played by Robert de Niro), who had probably never been diagnosed OCD and who simply spent his life browbeating and bullying everyone around him. Pat's life changes when he meets Tiffany who is also bi-polar but who manages (with some difficulty) to give him something to aim for (a dancing competition). This is probably the first time in his life that Pat has not been dominated by his NFL-loving father, and although not a brilliant dancer, you could see that he was enjoying the dancing and the commitment that came with it.

I left the cinema thinking that I didn't particularly enjoy the film, however, with hindsight, it tackled family rivalries and mental illness in a very positive and thought-provoking way. 7/10
