Saw this last night and thought it was quite good, woulda been better if we got the free ice cream though we got our free popcorn..in 'cups'. So drank the popcorn and watched the film 7.5/10

What chaos, twice in as many nights now, this time at Odeon Holloway.

I arrived at 5.50pm and a queue was forming at the Ben & Jerry counter, so I joined it, as the manager was telling everyone with SFF tickets to go upstairs to the bar and wait, but did not take their tickets. I thought I would rather wait in the queue for ice cream then in the bar. So got my ice cream and went and stood upstairs near Screen 3, where security was guarding. He told everyone to come back at 6.15pm, but no one budged. Everyone came up with their ice creams, and the doors opened at 6.20pm and security let us in handing us a bag of popcorn as we did so. Screen 3 was tiny and there were loads, and loads of people trying to get in. The manager was really good though and offered the ones without seats to another screening and off he went with them. The lights went out and the Virgin Rep came in asking for tickets from those who had not handed them in. Not wanting to be a no-show, I offered mine up and was immediately told to go outside with her, and was told off like a naughty child. Accused of taking seats off people who had their tickets checked, and I have not been checked if I was a Virgin Media customer, etc. etc. I told her if she had a problem it was between her and the manager, as I only did what the manager told me. She was really stressed out.

In two minds about this film. It is very beautiful to look at, including the female leads. Love sci-fi, all the gadgets and futuristic towers, with the pool in the sky. Did take me some time to get into and also suss out what the story was about, but I did not find it all that satisfying, or exciting. [spoiler]And just imagine all these clones of Tom! What a thought.[/spoiler]

After the film, we went for more ice cream, even though they had ran out of cones, they gave me and tsoiboy 2 scoops in a tub. Then we went back for more with funthing. It was so good! While queuing, the Virgin Rep came and explained why she had to pull me out and speak to me, but went on and one, to justify herself I suppose, and she was in a better mood, presumably having loads of ice cream while we watched the film. We just could not get rid of her. Eventually, I left her with tsoiboy, while I chatted with funthing, and ate our ice cream.

By the way.. So do we need had to show the tickets and get the free ice-cream or what was the offer?

Saw this at Southampton Odeon,got there at 5:50 thinking head of queue to find im at back of queue seems everyone got there early.Found sone seats for the family,free popcorn on each seat then went and got free ice cream this evening is getting better. As for the film, Yes my type of movie loved it from start to finish the story was great the scenery spectacular and the characters were superb.One for the sci-fi lovers.On leaving the cinema picked up free nachos using 02voucher a brill time was had by all.

Saw Oblivion last night in Liverpool - lucky enough to get free ice-cream on the way out (couldn't risk the queue when we arrived) and popcorn!

It's a very easy film, nothing deep, nothing unsettling, nothing new, but...
It's the kind of stuff that Tom Cruise does well, not very much acting required but quite a bit of running and fighting.
The landscapes are stunning and the flight, space and aerial combat stuff is beautifully flawless, the best kind of CGI we now take for granted.
Switch your brain off at the door and shovel the popcorn and it's certainly not a wasted two hours.

Granted, it's not stupid.
I meant more that it required no mental participation from the audience and didn't linger in my thoughts once I'd left the cinema.

I loved it in spite of Tom Cruise being in it, but then I'm a sucker for ruined beauty and cool synth scores. Don't know if I'll watch it again though - I think the plot might collapse like a souffle. But definitely worth checking out.
