The Rashomon Effect - Almeida

#63 Post by cliveas » Fri Jul 08, 2011 1:52 pm

Not actually a discount, but tickets are only £3 each for this:

Part of the Young Friends of the Almeida Festival
The Rashomon Effect
Written and performed by Young Friends
Sat 9 Jul 02:30 PM

Eight people, eight different stories of what happened that Tuesday night. Each of them has a different version of events, but someone has to be responsible for the crime they all witnessed.

The question is – which one will you believe?

A group of writers and actors have worked together over several weeks with Co-artistic director of Greyscale, Selma Dimitrijevic, in order to create a multi-voiced story of intrigue and deception. Closely echoing the creative process followed by Greyscale, each of the young writers provided a voice for one of the actors, and as a team they have created a story for and with their audiences.

FELA!

#64 Post by cliveas » Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:02 pm

Broadway and National Theatre hit show FELA! this summer, about the life of legendary musician Fela Kuti. His blend of jazz, funk and African rhythms ignited a generation, as he defied a corrupt and oppressive military government in his home country, Nigeria, and he devoted his life and music to the struggle for freedom and human dignity.

To book, call 0844 412 4300 and quote “SERTUC offer” or go to http://www.sadlerswells.com/fela and enter the promo code pcdsertuc when prompted.

Whatsonstage.com Theatre Club + Thriller

#66 Post by cliveas » Sun Jul 17, 2011 5:00 pm

I'm getting a little nervous regarding these group b*ying sites, but this one seems to be legit.

Whatsonstage.com Theatre Club members enjoy an extensive lists of benefits including access to free tickets offers every month to top Off-West-End and Fringe productions. New members also currently receive a complimentary ticket to see the Michael Jackson musical, Thriller Live at the West End’s Lyric Theatre.

Go Groopie are currently offering a year’s membership (including the Thriller ticket) for £12 (usually £35).

Whatsonstage is legit and always have a lot of great deals. I have to say though that you don't have to be a member to get most of those. Everyone can join their group outings which usually mean discounted tickets, free drink/programme and often a Q/A or meet and greet. Though they do promise occasional free tickets with the membership too but have never heard anything interesting from a friend. So unless you're interested in the cheap Thriller Live ticket it isn't necessary to b*y this deal to get most WOS offers (though their annual membership is indeed £30 normally)

Whatsonstage is definitely legit and membership is £30 by direct debit or £35 otherwise. My nervousness was regarding the group b*ying sites, in this case Go Groopie.
